Hi!  I wasn't going to do a blog for 2015 but then I saw all the book jars and got tempted.. So here is my version, a Book Box!! :D

23jia7b.jpg

There are around 70 book titles in here, all are books I have wanted to read at some point in the last few years, so hopefully this will encourage me to get around to reading them sooner rather than later, maybe this way I will be less inclined to add to the titles too! ;):)

Love the book box, at least it won't break when you fling it across the room in annoyance at the book title you've pulled! :D  Although you've got some very interesting titles in there.

You are off to a great reading start, I hope the rest of the year is as good and productive.  :readingtwo:

The Rabbit Back Literature Society - Pasi Ilmari Jaaskelainen

Kylie's going to be happy to see The Phantom Tollbooth on your TBR :D It should be a really great read  I'm hoping to read it this year. Looking forward to your thoughts on it when you get to it!

And yay for The Rabbit Back Literature Society! :smile2: Can't wait for your thoughts on that, either! :D

Happy reading in 2015, chalie!  :friends3:

Edit: I forgot to say: the box is absolutely gorgeous!

Thanks everyone!  I got the box in our local Newsagent, there were lots of different sizes and they were very reasonably priced (£2 for this one) and I'm trying to think of uses for the other sizes!  :blush2:

Hi frankie, there are so many books on there I am very keen to read, hopefully this will help me get through them all.. I did buy The Dynamite Room yesterday though so their odds have lengthened ever so slightly! :D

What a pretty box it is......see there are 3 JoJo in there...but not Diane Chamberlain....have you read them all then.. :giggle:

I still have some DC's Diane but I think I need a little break from them so will concentrate on what's in the box for a little while I think. Whilst they are all very different the general theme is the same and I need a change! :)

That makes sense :). I usually have a bit of time too between standalone reads by the same author.

Well, I have finished Jamaica Inn and was not in the least disappointed, what a fantastic author Daphne Du Maurier was. It always takes me a fair few pages to get into her novels as I read very little books that are not contemporary, but they flow beautifully once I get going and I can only delight in the mood and atmosphere she creates. What I loved particularly about Jamaica Inn was how the book concentrated so solely on Mary as though she were the axis around which all the other character revolved. I felt like I was Mary and I felt what she felt, and was rooting for her from beginning to end, she was so strong yet was confined to so little freedom, in body and spirit, as a woman of that time.

A 4.5/5, not quite as good for me as Rebecca but hot on the heels!

I have consulted the Box of Books, or rather my daughter has for me, and it has given me Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell, I'm not thrilled with this as I wasn't over keen on The Hand That First Held Mine, but I shall give it a go!

You've got some great looking titles ahead of you - a few are on my TBR  as well.

I've just finished Rebecca having read Jamaica Inn last year. I loved both but agree Rebecca just pips it for me :)

Have a great reading year!

I hope you get on ok with Instructions for a Heatwave. I liked it, but then again I also liked The Hand That First Held Mine (though having said that, I don't actually remember any plot details :blush2: ).

Thanks, I've read the first 50 pages and it seems ok so fingers crossed! I don't remember much about The Hand that First Held Mine either, I just remember finding it a bit dull and slow..

I wasn't keen on 'Heatwave' but I loved The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox.  I hope you enjoy the book.  :)

Thanks Janet. :)

Thanks Alex, I really need to look up more Daphne Du Maurier for when my TBR pile has reduced a lot a bit.  :giggle:

Ooh, beautiful box, Chalie! I'm glad you decided to start a reading log after all. :) I helped myself to a couple of cookies, thank you.

Yes, Kylie is happy indeed. :) However, she'd be even happier if Frankie would stop talking about this book with everyone and just read it herself! :P

I remember reading and enjoying The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, but I remember absolutely nothing about it. So even though I think I enjoyed it, I doubt I'll read anything else by her. I'll still be interested in your thoughts on this one though!

Hopefully The Phantom Tollbooth will pop up soon, it's another one that I'm not sure why I haven't picked up yet but I almost certainly will this year!  :) I wasn't too thrilled with the box yesterday to be honest, I'm hoping it will be kinder next time.  The kids are taking it in turn to choose a card from the box as they seem to think I will have put all my potential favourites on one colour of card! :D(I haven't but I do remember what colour a few of my favourites are on!  :giggle: )
