emelee
Do you have any nice ideas of arts and crafts projects, preferably the kind that doesn't take forever, that you can do for Christmas, or for just everyday decorations? I am attending a gathering where I am supposed to bring 5 different projects that people can make that evening. It can't be expensive either, because it has to be enough for approx. 30 people. But I would love to hear ideas for other occasions too. DIY-projects that I can do on other occasions, when I'm alone or with a friend. I have a few fun things in mind. Hats for bottles is so cute and very easy. All you need is yarn, scissors and a toilet paper roll. Link is in Swedish, but you can fully understand how to make them by just looking at the images. http://pysseldrommar.com/2014/01/13/ge-flaskan-en-mossa-pyssel-med-garn-och-toarullar/ Yarn-word http://cfabbridesigns.com/craft-projects/yarn-love/ Sugar lights You only need sugar cubes and glue. Plus of course a decorative tealight.
emelee
Decorative glass jar with tealightAll you need is a color marker that can paint on glass, a glass jar and a tealight. Possibly some salt to keep the light in place.http://www.makeandcreate.se/quicklinks/pyssel__pysseltips/glasburk_god_jul/(PS: God jul = merry christmas) You can also make yarnballs for the Christmas tree. Maybe in white yarn so they look like snowballs? http://sverigesradio.se/sida/artikel.aspx?programid=4031&artikel=4237781
Athena
Very interesting ideas here! I've made yarnballs before (when I was a teenager). I have to say though I'm not an arts / crafts person at all so I couldn't really help you think of anything else . I don't really enjoy working with my hands all that much (they never seem to do what I want them to), but I do admire the things other people can make . Kylie
I love arts and crafts stuff—but I wish I had the time and money to invest in it! I'll see if I can find anything that might be of interest. I love the yarn 'Love' sign. So cute!
Chrissy
I love the ones you have posted, they are all simple yet really appealing. My first thought was woollen dolls, as I used to make these with my Mum when I was little. What is great is that they can be made any size so you could attach small ones to safety pins to make a brooch/badge type thing, through bigger sizes. It depends on your wool and participants. This site shows the dolls, but they had other craft things that might also be suitable.

Maybe you can even crochet some shape and make a brooch.
Virginia
Decided to revive this thread, hope others will participate! Last weekend I went into Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is a crafting chainstore here in the States. http://www.hobbylobby.com/Home-Decor-Frames/c/3 I should NOT have found this store. Ugh! Everyday I get a 40% off coupon for one regularly priced item. That's not including the fantastic deals they have everyday. Anyway, I'd wanted to make something for my little grand daughters. I have three of them ages 3, 2 and 1. Two are in California and the youngest is in Texas. I wandered around the store and tried to come up with something easy that I could make for them. I'm not very talented but I plan to explore my creative side as I really want to leave legacies for my family. I purchased canvas bags (four in a pack) some fabric paint, felt, you get the picture. I also got three glittery crowns and beads. Last Saturday I decorated the bags with stencil and felt stickers. I also decorated the glittery crowns and made them those giant flower bow hair and. Everything is color coordinated, pink, purple and a pretty pastel green. Tomorrow I'm going to make them beaded necklaces and bracelets. My youngest grand will get a personalized baseball cap. I'm hoping to get all of their things completed and boxed by the end of the month. My next big project will be making the girls their mini afghans. They are so girly! I'm really enjoying coming up with ideas to make and send them now that they are living back with their parents. I can actually do "granny" things! I've also got a cool coloring project going on. I picked up this picture frame that came with three coloring pictures (owls and such). I can paint one and place it in the frame that it came in. While its being admired, I can work on the next picture and switch it out when I get bored. It's kind of like this but it has the pre-selected pictures for you to color. https://www.google.com/search?q=framed+coloring+pages&sa=X&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&imgil=CqTvuKd3tbL22M%253A%253BNPrUjJkZO25DAM%253Bhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.pinterest.com%25252Fpin%25252F558868634986435837%25252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=CqTvuKd3tbL22M%253A%252CNPrUjJkZO25DAM%252C_&usg=__lajITRWRjgk8A0TfMeny1pxHoFI%3D&ved=0ahUKEwi_-bjt6fPNAhXIFT4KHST9CkkQyjcIKw&ei=efqHV__YFcir-AGk-qvIBA#imgrc=CqTvuKd3tbL22M%3A What are you working on?
