emelee
Competition over. The results are.......... http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/12775-best-author-competition-finale-results-are-in/?p=397497 (or just scroll down to post 17 in this thread....) This is the finale. Last round there was a poll. 3 authors were eliminated. The results of that poll will give each authors a certain point as we continue. That point is set by procentage that author got in the poll. OPEN for new entries until JUNE 30 In the finale, your job is to do a ranking. The winner will be the author that gets the MOST amount of points. So you rank these 7 authors in the order you prefer them. 7 points for your favorite, 6 points for your second favorite, 5 points for your third favorite etc.... and finally 1 point for your least favorite to win this competition. Charles DickensJane Austen George OrwellTerry Pratchett JRR TolkienOscar WildeFyodor Dostoyevsky Example:7p. to Jane Austen 6p. to JRR Tolkien5p. to Charles Dickens4p. to Oscar Wilde 3p. to Terry Pratchett2p. to Fyodor Dostoyevsky 1p. to George Orwell These are the points the authors carry with them from precious round: Charles Dickens (6 votes [15.38%] - View) = 15 pointsJane Austen (7 votes [17.95%] - View) = 18 pointsGeorge Orwell (5 votes [12.82%] - View) = 13 pointsTerry Pratchett (5 votes [12.82%] - View) = 13 pointsJRR Tolkien (5 votes [12.82%] - View) = 13 pointsOscar Wilde (4 votes [10.26%] - View) = 10 pointsFyodor Dostoyevsky (3 votes [7.69%] - View) = 8 points Edited July 2, 2014 by emelee

LittleW
Can I also take part in the poll if I know only four out of the seven authors?
emelee
Can I also take part in the poll if I know only four out of the seven authors? Yes. But you have to rank all 7. So then you have two options on how to do that: 1). Go on gut feelings when placing all 7 in your order. 2) If you can't, then place the authors you like first, and all rest you put outside the list. They will all recieve points though. For example 7p (Authors name) 6p. (Authors name) 5p. (Authors name) 4p. (Authors name) -- The rest All the rest will recieve 2 points as there are place 1-3 left. willoyd
7p. to Jane Austen 6p. to Charles Dickens 5p. to Fyodor Dostoyevsky 4p. to JRR Tolkien 3p. to George Orwell 2p. to Oscar Wilde. 1p. to Terry Pratchett Not as difficult as I expected. Intriguing list. Not many post-war writers there. For me it's not a bad list but it's too short of some of the great women writers to be a really good one. Very interesting exercise though!
