Did Jonathan Franzen recommend 'The Man Who Loved Children', or did Christina Stead recommend 'Farther Away'? If JF did the recommending then he was not alone in thinking the book to be important and well written. You only have to look at the reviews to know that the Stead book is highly regarded.
