Kidsmum
This year i'll be adding a couple of new things to my reading log, i'm taking part in one of the challenges for the first time, The English Counties Challenge, so that'll be added so i can keep track of where i'm at. Also for the first time i'm going to attempt to add my TBR mountain, which going on my typing speed will probably take me most of the year I'll be keeping the books bought section but as i'm trying to reduce my TBR pile this will hopefully only list books bought for me as presents & adding a books borrowed list as well, mainly so i can keep track of the books i've borrowed from the library instead of buying.I'll also be changing my rating system slightly & adopting Willoyd's 6/6 for books that have that extra WOW!!! quality. I'm really happy with my reading rate in 2013, i averaged out at about 6 books a month so this year i'm just hoping to equal that amount rather than improve on it as i feel that i also need to introduce a bit of balance into my life & do other things in my spare time other than read Edited December 20, 2013 by Kidsmum

Marie H
I hope you have a great year with your TBR lists . Little Pixie
Ooh, I loved Mapp & Lucia - E.F.Benson. Is that the first book or the omnibus with the first 3 books ? They are such a delight. Looking at your list, I`m reminded that I`ve only read one Peter Carey book ( Oscar and Lucinda ) and that was a while back. Must check out his other work. Good Luck with your 2014 reads ! At the moment I have some of them on my TBR too but I don't think I've read many of them, so I can't really say anything postive or negative about the books! It would be interesting to know which book comes up the most on everyone's TBR lists. I keep seeing books on other peoples lists that i have myself as well I'll post when i finally manage to get them all typed up which will hopefully be sooner than later if the kids will let me stay on the computer long enough I hope you have a great year with your TBR lists . Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche's Purple Hibiscus is another Snow Flower and the Secret Fan type of book, a stunning book. Have fun! Thanks Marie, i've heard good things about Chimamanda & i have had her books for quite awhile just haven't got round to reading them yet

Hi Pixie, good to hear you enjoyed Mapp & Lucia, I know Chesil is a big fan as well so looking forward to reading this one. It's just the first book, i don't think it's thick enough to be an omnibus I also have Oscar & Lucinda & The True History of The Kelly Gang by him, my sister raved about Oscar & Lucinda so i know it's a good one it's just a matter of getting round to it. One of the disadvantages of having a huge TBR pile i find is that you almost have too much to choose from Good luck Kidsmum. I like the way you have separate Upstairs and Downstairs TBR piles Thanks VF, I have boxes of books everywhere so i'm looking forward to reducing my book mountain & regaining some storage space for other things

Kidsmum
Or perhaps just have... space. I know, it`s a radical concept. In our house there is no such thing as space, Pixie Good luck with your 2014 TBR list! I'm interested to see your opinions about Wuthering Heights, I attempted to read it however could not finish it. Thanks Vixen Wuthering Heights is one of my all time favourite books & films, it's listed on my TBR list as i'm going to reread it for the English Counties Challenge. Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it but i guess it's not everybody's cup of tea. Do you have a favourite classic ?
chaliepud
Wow, KM, you are very organised this year! Good luck with your reading and the challenge in particular. I have American Gods and The Angel's Game on my TBR shelf, I will get to the latter in the New Year but the former isn't grabbing me and has been demoted to the TBR drawer for now.. I have Alone In Berlin too but that has been borrowed by a friend who is not a fast reader so I may not see it for a while! Of course Human Traces is a must read (maybe I should get a tattoo with that on?) The Road, The Secret Life Of Bees and Sister are brilliant reads to in my lowly opinion. I will keep a close eye on your book blog in the New Year as you have a lot of books on your lists I don't recognise but could well be gems of the future! Happy Christmas! Kidsmum
Thanks Chaliepud American Gods was actually my eldest daughters book but i've absorbed it into my TBR list & like you i've had Angel's Game on my shelves for ages, i know i'll get round to reading it eventually but there's other books that i want to read before it. Human Traces is definitely one that i want to read sooner rather than later, my sister has already read it & felt pretty much the same way about it as you did. Thanks for the other recommendations, one of the nice things about getting round to listing all my books is that i'm finding books that i'd actually forgotten buying it's like Christmas has come early Happy Christmas to you too, hope you & your family have a good one
