julie
No Challenges. Ok, I'm breaking my own rule here a bit . I found this easy Bingo challenge online. It should be easy enough to fit the books I read this year into the slots. They are pretty varied . Typed out list of Bingo Card : A book with over 500 pgs -The Little Friend (paperback has 510) Forgotten Classic - Book of Ebenezer LePage (forgotten to me, I'd never heard of it ) Became a Movie -My Cousin Rachel Published this year -Final Argument Number in the Title - Author age under 30 - Non-human characters - Funny -Daisy Fay and the Miracle Man Female author --Whistling in the Dark Mystery -Echoes of My Soul (real life mystery) One word title - Short stories - Different continent-Lost in Shangrila Nonfiction - Running the Books First book by a favorite author -The Bottoms (Joe Lansdale -- just bought 2 more by him ! ) Heard about it online -American Boy ( found it on Amazon ) Bestseller list -When We Were the Kennedys (Winner of the 2012 Sarton Memoir Award)--Close enough ! Based on a true story - Year of Our Lord Bottom of my TBR - Thunder Over the Prairie ( One of the first books I put on my Kindle ) Book your friend loves - The Observations (Bobblybear loved it ! and so do I ) Book that scares you -The Constance Fisher Tragedy More than 10 years old-Handcarved Coffins Second in a series -- Good Graces Blue cover -Coffins of Little Hope Edited July 27, 2014 by julie

Little Pixie
Aw, nice. I`m thinking of picking 12 must-read books for next year, books which I`ve had for ages in my TBR, and having the rest of my reading as a free-for-all. Oops, can I post in this thread yet ? pontalba
Love. This. Thread! Yup, reading's the thing. Although I would like to finish off Sherman before the end of the year, hate to bring the bugger forward to another year. /sigh/

julie
Thanks Kate ! I decided to try a new approach this coming year. ( Hope you get Sherman out of the way before then , if not, toss it if it's too much . Life's too short to waste on books you're struggling with . Chalie, Thanks I think this might just prevent a bit of the sliding mojo and reading slumps that have been all too common this year. It sounds like lots of folks in here have experienced the same lately . Better luck for next year, huh ?

Signor Finzione
This is a great approach Julie. I hope to do something similar - just have a general list of books I want to read but no time limits or pressure. Hope you have fun with it! Thanks ,and I agree, I have a huge pile of books on my Kindle, but I have it set up so they are sort of invisible unless I want to see them all the time, so I don't have physical books sitting here staring me in the face . Good luck next year to you too . for stopping by ,guys ! Edited December 13, 2013 by julie

pontalba
Thanks Kate ! I decided to try a new approach this coming year. ( Hope you get Sherman out of the way before then , if not, toss it if it's too much . Life's too short to waste on books you're struggling with . I'll echo James..... The Sherman book is one of those, probably. The only possible difference is my ingrained prejudice against Sherman. I don't want to allow that to color my finishing, or not finishing the book. Interestingly enough, the book is based on Sherman's own diaries and letters. Apparently the man kept everything! So, that alone should make it more.....interesting? Insightful? Yeah, all of that. julie
Not book related , but I'm not much of a stickler on my book threads . Tattoos . Seriously thinking of getting one,so I've been doing an informal survey to ask others if they have one, what it is and where . Kate brought up a good point : As you AGE , your PARTS start to sag . Before : AFTER I'd hate to have George Clooney on my butt cheek ,then wake up one day with Jimmy Durante . julie
Yes, I remember Jimmy too, but I was trying to picture someone that had a really old wrinkly face, so he was the first one I thought of .
