Foxface
Good evening. My name is Foxface (Dan). I am 34, married and quite happy. For many years of my life I shunned reading until one day I picked up a book and said "I will not stop until this is read." After about 2 weeks it was read and well now I am in love. So I have read a lot since then and now I want to learn more and read more. So I deided to come here and meet like minded (and much more knowledgeable people) like yourselves and find new books to reada little about myself. I like depth and insanity in my books. I love Vonnegut but I need to branch outso please treat a literary newbie like myself gently :-)Foxface
Athena
Welcome here ! I haven't read anything by Kurt Vonnegut yet, though I have a few of his books on my Kindle, so I can't really help you there personally I'm afraid. Hopefully someone else can, though . I've heard his books are pretty famous.

Signor Finzione
Hi Dan, welcome to the forum! I read Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions a couple of years ago and spent a lot of time giggling out loud whilst reading it.
vodkafan
Hi Foxface. Vonnegut is a great start. Not really knowing what you may like, there is a lot of directions you could go in. The Millenium Trilogy (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) books by Steig Larsson are great for depth. If you want to explore the classics I recommend Jane Austen, her character studies have probably never been equalled. Lots of depth. However you said you like a bit of insanity so I would check out Neil Gaiman (anything) and Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk, or Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson . poppyshake
Hello Foxface and welcome Depth and insanity aye? .. sounds good. Do you like fantasy and if so .. have you tried Abercrombie? Do you remember the title of the book you first picked up? .. you owe it a big debt of gratitude (though it will undoubtedly make you poorer )

I keep hearing about Girl With the DragonTattoo...I have got to get off my butt and just read that And Neil Gaiman will probably be in my future Thanks! After that I just started reading all the time. Nonfiction (usually about quantum physics or psychology, my chosen profession) or fiction (usually fantasy or sci fi)...and Hunger Games (if that wasn't evident by my screen name) Foxface
