CuriousGeorgette
English Sci-fi author in 1955 - hmmm Arthur C. Clarke I think may have had his first stories published around then, although I think most of his writing was a bit later. So not him. H.G. Wells ... but he was before then. Brian Aldiss - also I think a bit later. And you are currently reading John Wyndham ... so is it a stretch to suggest him - he is really the only British author I can think of who would be publishing around that time? Anna Begins
I missed this one on Jeopardy tonight Final Jeopardy (none of the people got it either) Category: 20th Century Novel Quotes Question: "It was one of those pictures... so contrived that the eyes follow you...beneath." (The picture was this 5 word quote.) Anyone guess? Edited August 30, 2014 by Anna Begins
frankie
I wanted to go with The Da Vinci -code but I'm pretty sure that's not it, and I think it was published in the 21st century, too What was Chrissy's quote, as well?
Anna Begins
I wanted to go with The Da Vinci -code but I'm pretty sure that's not it, and I think it was published in the 21st century, too What was Chrissy's quote, as well? Good guess, but mine is mid 20th Century. Here is a clue- it's SF and another genre (that would give it away).
Chrissy
Mine was from Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Your one Anna is truly bugging me. I know I have read that, but for the life of me I cannot place it. '...and another genre.....' ? I am now both stumped and intrigued. Let me go wrack (or perhaps whack) my brain.
