SueK
I don't know if this author has been discussed before but I'm ashamed to say I haven't read any Kingsley Amis. I will always have a stack of books to read for the rest of my life but I would like to ask what your opinion is of this author and do I make way for him. Any ideas on what to read of his? I have fancied the look of "That Uncertain Feeling". Thanks
Raven
I have a friend who raves about Lucky Jim.I started to read it myself a few years back but never finished it (I'm not sure why now, as I was enjoying it). I keep meaning to give it another go sometime.
Kylie
I've read Lucky Jim. I wouldn't say I loved it, but it had some funny moments. I'd like to read something else by him one day.
KEV67
I have read Lucky Jim, which I enjoyed. It's a campus novel. Quite funny. I also read The Old Devils, which beat The Handmaid's Tale for the Booker Prize. It was an unusual plot. It was about these Welsh pensioners who spend too much time down the pub. An old acquaintance of theirs, who made it big being a professional Welshman on the telly, retires to the area. Things happen, but it's not like Last of the Summer Wine.
