Well that's it nice & simple  I've decided to reintroduce a books bought list for this year as i did quite well in keeping my book buying habits to a minimum last year. This year i want to read more non fiction & also finish the Sharpe Series i started many moons ago but apart from that i don't have any other reading plans other than to enjoy the books i choose :coffee1:

Hope you have a great reading year KM, look forward to seeing what's on your lists and hearing more about your non-fiction choices. That's something I want to address too in 2013. Yes, good plan .. enjoy the books .. that's key :)

HI KM! Happy Reading for 2013 :D

I also find that I have had to curb my book buying habits. A couple of years ago some members introduced the "Read 3 Buy 1" rule and since then I've tried to stick to it. I always count off my read books in three's and although I no longer keep a count of credits that I have earned, I still monitor what I'm buying, against how many I have read.

This does completely fall down though with gifts and borrowed books ;)

Thanks Poppy, i have a couple of non fiction titles that i 'm definitely bumping to the top of the pile, The Bounty: The True Story of The Mutiny on The Bounty Caroline Alexander & Nathaniel's Nutmeg by Giles Milton. I'm planning on wowing people with my new found knowledge in 2013 although not sure how i'll manage to work the spice trade into a bus stop conversation but going to give it a go ;)

I hope you have a great reading year in 2013, Kidsmum!

Thanks Frankie, i'm feeling very positive about next year :friends3:

Where is your TBR pile kidsmum? Oh lordy are you starting off from scratch ?

I totally wimped out over the TBR list VF, at a rough estimate i think i have pushing 500 books on my TBR mountain now & it would take me so long to type all that out the kids would lynch me for hogging the computer. I suppose i could change my books bought section to a TBR list & add them bit by bit though it' probably take me most of the year but i would love to share my lovely books with everyone :D

I can see where you're coming from KM, apart from my TBR list I'll not be be trying to do any challenges this year, I just want to read what comes to hand, or pops up on my Kobo this year, much more chillaxing!

That's going to be me next year Chaliepud, totally chilled :coolsnow:

Happy reading next year Kidsmum

Thanks Weave , i look forward to chatting books with you next year

Sounds like a nice relaxing reading plan for next year, Kidsmum! Happy 2013 reading

Thanks Chesil, i'm looking forward to next year i know it's going to be a good year for reading for me :readingtwo:

Happy reading in 2013 KM! I hope you don't mind me calling you that, being new and all.

Thanks Devi , don't mind you calling me KM at all feel free to pop in & say hi anytime

Thanks Lilywhite, the Read 3 Buy 1 sounds like a good plan, i intend to stay out of charity shops as much as possible next year as that's where temptation lies for me. If i had had to pay full price for my books my TBR pile would be less than half the size it is :D

Wishes from me too Kidsmum.

Hope your reading is all that you want it to be this year

Thanks Bree, hope we both have a fabulous reading year :friends3:

Keeping your list simple is a great idea, Kidsmum. I love lists too much to do it myself. :blush2: Listing all of my unread books is like a compulsion—I feel like my year won't have really started until I set up my reading list. :) Happy reading in 2013! I look forward to seeing what you read.

(I love that we all wish each other a happy *reading* year rather than just a happy new year. :D)

I like! I've abandoned pretty much all my lists too this year, but did put together a list t of my non-fiction doorstoppers (500+ pages) and classics simply for encouragement, as those are the two areas i want to get stuck into this year. I think you're right about a books bought list too, so have decided to do the same. Primary goal is the same too - enjoy!

I remember the days before I had a TBR list. They were nice, care-free days

Happy reading in 2013, Kidsmum

Thanks Kylie , i'd love to put my TBR books in a nice neat list on here but i'd have to type it up with my elbows sticking out to keep the kids at bay , my middle daughter gets withdrawal symptoms if she doesn't go on Tumblr regularly & my youngest one is addicted to club penguin. I hardly get time to indulge my own BCF addiction :D:friends3:

I envy your ability to keep your reading plans so simple! I can't help but plan all my books out, though I end up not reading half of them :D Happy reading in 2013!

Thanks Noll, i like to choose my books as i go along as i often change my mind about what i want to read next especially when i read other peoples recommendations :D

I have quite a few of the classics i want to get to as well some are re reads like Austen & also Jude The Obscure which i attempted when i was much younger but couldn't get into. I loved The Barchester Chronicles but have never read The Palliser novels so that's also on my to do list but wether i fit them all into one year is another matter. As for the books bought list i could do with not buying any at all but i know that's one challenge i'd definitely fail at but hopefully a list will help me keep myself in check failing that it'll have to be a strait jacket :giggle2:

Those were the days before i joined the forum & my TBR books still fitted on my bookshelves

With a possible 500 books on your TBR I don't blame you for deciding to leave it off this year.

Good luck with your reading for the year ahead.

Thanks Brian , i thought about paying one of the children to do it for me but they charge too much
