Warwick
Do you know of any detective fiction (be it novels or short stories) without the plot involving a murder? I guess there must be some novels where the detective solves cases about thieves, not murderers, but I'm not familiar with detective and mystery literature. However, I wish to enlarge my "to read" list in this area, so could you suggest me some of the ones that you know? Please don't recommend me any children's books with Scooby Doo or anything like that... Edited December 22, 2012 by Warwick
Kell
There are definitely some Sherlock Holmes adventures where nobody is murdered. And there is always the Arsene Lupin books - he's a master thief.
Hayley
'The Purloined Letter' by Edgar Allan Poe has no murder in it (short story) In The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins there are a couple of murders but the investigation isn't about them, it's about a theft, if that counts. And Mark Twain's 'The Stolen White Elephant' (also a short story) isn't about murder, but it's also technically a parody of detective fiction so I don't know if that counts either...
