angerball
Finished Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl, and loved it. Review can be found here, as well as on my LibraryThing (see sig).
mister.g
The last 'chunker' i read was an omnibus of the first 2 harry bosch books by Michael Connelly - the book didn't seem to thick at first - then i opened it and registered the 'gideons bible' thickness paper it was printed on. Still they were fantastic - enough to have me add him to my 'must have' list. In response to the OP - i picked up The Swarm when it came out - i thoroughly enjoyed it. I was intimidated by its size at first but it's a brilliant book. I'd definitely like a publisher to pick his other books up for translation. I thought i'd be overawed by some of the scientific parts (apparently after reading reviews some of the science isn't 100% factually accurate) but i feel they fleshed the story out nicely. Uma Thurman's bought the movie rights to the book with a release pencilled in for 2011 - i dread to think what mess they'll make of it
Ben
I suppose technically I'm reading a chunker, as Inkheart comes in at a total of 543 pages.
