MountainGirl
I usually only read one book at a time, I may pause a book to read something else.. but I've never been in the middle of two books at the same time.
Pixie
One at a time, and I always think about it and sometimes discuss it with someone after I finish. I find there is always more to any book than the initial layer when I take the time to dissect it. This is my favorite part of reading. Figuring out the multiple meanings within books. BookJumper
I don't think this 'one book at a time' malarkey is working for me; once a book polygamist, always a book polygamist I fear *goes back to bad old ways*!
Vanwa
3+ for me. I'm rereading The Hobbit by Tolkien, rereading Complete Poe (who can be bothered to type the whole title?!), rereading The Silmarillion, taking my time with my Hitch Hiker's collection, which I adore by the way, reading Stephen King's Everything's Eventual collection of shorts, I've got two non-fictions about yoga on the go, and I'm just about holding off of rereading another couple of favourites until I finish at least one of the...quick count...seven I am already reading. Blimey...
Scoopalicious
Only one for me. I don't think my brain could cope with any more than that.
c_mob
Only 1 at a time.
Jonny_MacQueen
What do you guys think? I'm thinking of reading through some Fantasy while reading some physics/science books.
vodkafan
Yes, always have done. Sometimes 3 or 4 but not often . Usually only two at a time.
runner
yep 2 for me..usually of different genres eg crime and a biography and usually one tree book and one on the kindle
julie
I voted one . I guess I have a one track mind. Any more than one and I feel pressured to hurry and get one done ,and reading shouldn't be a chore, it should be a treat . I envy those who can read multiple books . Abcinthia
I'd say 3+ I tend to have one book that is a project to be read over a long period of time and 2 that are read at the same time.
lauraloves
Just the one, I get confused if not!
dawnbirduk
Just the one, I get confused if not! Me Too
HoneyGirl
I only read one book at once, I prefer it that way as I feel I can get absorbed in it and not get anything confused. I cannot start doing the same as I do with my cross stitch - I have several projects I need to finish and I don't intend to do the same thing with my books
Roy
I read two books, one for the public transportation, it has to be an easy reading, and the other one at my house.
alison10
2 for me, usually one fiction and one non-fiction.
bobblybear
^Same here. One fiction and one non-fiction. I do usually end up favoring the fiction though, and the non-fiction can take several weeks (sometimes months) to finish.
karen.d
I have voted one book. I find it impossible to read several books at once, because I find that I can't absorb myself in the story and characters fully, if I'm flitting between totally different books. MysteryRose
Just one at a time. I want to be completely in the book, so another one would pull me out of it, I think...
LittleW
It depends. Sometimes two or three novels at a time, sometimes only one. And add one book if I read a non-fiction as well.
Lucybird
I used to read one at a time, very occasionally 2. Now I have my Kindle I'm reading one on the Kindle and one tree book
lauraloves
I used to read one at a time, very occasionally 2. Now I have my Kindle I'm reading one on the Kindle and one tree book thats exactly what I am like now, never thought I could read two at once, but so far I am managing it fine
Chiara
Just one, unless I have to read a book for school when I was already reading a book.
Shin
Just one for me too. I started reading books and putting them aside then starting another and another. I was ending up have 3-4 books started and none being finished so one it is now.
Chrissy
Now usually I would have to answer with "One", but I am happily reading two at the moment. At University I had to read a few at a time, just to keep up with the required reading. I found it pretty easy to do whilst I was deep in study, but since then I have become a one-at-a-time reader. I am glad that my reading mojo has brought me to this point where I can read more than one again.
