That's an interesting example you've chosen there, Janet. :D

How does one get a member title?

You mean in place of 'settling in' above your picture? or the title below your picture? The former, you have to have 1000 posts I think, and the latter changes automatically as you post.

I think! If I'm wrong, someone please correct me!

The title below the picture. I see lots of folks with it but I can't find it in my profile settings. Must be something related to posting and years active probably. I'll get it too by 2020  :giggle2:

If you mean when you change from a 'Member' into an 'Advanced Member', that's when you've made a 1000 posts I think.

Hi all.

I'm really sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place but I couldn't see anywhere in the Book Log section for me to ask.

Now that I seem to be out of my reading slump I'd really like to start a book log in the relevant section, but I don't want to have to start one only to have someone close it at the end of the year and then me have to start another one for 2017.  So would it be okay (as a one-off) for me to start my book log and have it run from now right through to the end of next year?

Hi Autumn. That's absolutely fine. If I remember correctly, we only usually move the blogs into the Past Book Blogs section if they are for a specific year, but even then they don't get closed as people might still want to discuss a book you've read in the past. You could either put "2016/2017" in the title, or not put a year there at all, and it will stay where it is at the end of the year :)

That's great, thank you.  I just assumed from looking at the threads I've browsed through (getting ideas for my own) it was one per year.

I used to do one every year, but then I transferred it all into one thread and I have an ongoing book log now so I can keep it all in one place. Much easier. ;)

Hi

Is it OK for me to write a personal post about the thing I'm volunteering for? It's a small start-up crowdfunding project

I'd like to ask book lovers specific feedback questions.

I don't really know the best place to put it because it's a whole new book format. Not one book.

Trevor

It's not really the sort of thing we allow for new members - we could possibly allow you to ask for feedback for your research, but not to include website names/urls etc, as it's classed as advertising / promotion.

Can I just add posts in my thread in chronological order? Basically I forgot to add a main  post at the start of the thread with the usual list of books read in my topic and I just jumped in with my thoughts on the books. So I was wondering if I could now add a post at the start of the thread? If not I can always edit the first post and go from there but will not look so clean.

edit: Thank you.

I'm sorry, but it's not possible to insert a post in the beginning of the thread. As explained in the 2016 Book Blog thread, this is why people often leave a few empty posts at the beginning (well, almost empty, since you can't make an empty post).
