Hello,

I come to this forum to inform myself of good reads and to become part of the community!

About me: I only started having an interest in reading last year (at the age of 22). So that probably makes me a late starter. I do enjoy reading now and have had quite a bit of time to read. I have now read the following:

Lynne Truss Eats, Shoots and Leaves

Wodehouse The Empress

Heavy Weather

Something Fresh

J Coetzee Boyhood

Youth

Summertime

E Childers Riddle of the Sands

R Dawkins The God Delusion

Andrew Marr The Diamond Queen

Richard Popkin, Avrum Stroll Philosophy

Jeremy Paxman The English

Evelyn Waugh The Ordeal of Gilbert Pinfold

Henry Miller The Colossus of Maroussi

Wayne Ellwood The No-Nonsense Guide to Globalization

Homer The Iliad

Rita Carter Mapping the Mind

David Lambert The Solar System

Bill Purves China on the Lam

The Mammoth Book of Eyewitness: World War I

Quite a mix. I particularly like the Wodehouse novels.

I would like to share a quote from Prophet Muhammed: "Acquire knowledge, it guides us to happiness, it sustains us in misery, it is an ornament amongst friends and it is armour against enemies."

Good list! Love the God Delusion, enjoyed Eats Shoots and Leaves but think Lynne Truss is a looney. I'm new here too and have only been here for a shirt time and found lots I want to read, so I hope you find the same! :)

Homer The Iliad

The Odyssey. Read it. Seriously. The Iliad is good and all, but the Odyssey is so much better. Well, in my opinion it is. After that, find Virgil's Aeneid. It's basically a fan fiction of the Homeric epics. Elements from both are there and some of the plot is directly lifted. But that's okay, it's still an enjoyable read.
