Milhouse2011

Recommended Posts

Milhouse2011 is not an established writer, self published writer or even an aspiring writer. Milhouse2011 is a rare specimen known as the unwilling writer. Milhouse2011 believes that writing is neither a talent nor the result of hard work. Writing, by his definition, can be achieved by anyone with a writing apparatus and a basic command of the English language.

Growing up, Milhouse2011 was noted for his writing due to this talent being encoded into his genetic sequence. However, Milhouse2011 wanted to do other things as writing wasn't something he wanted to pursue.

As a consequence, Milhouse2011's life up to this point has been a domino chain of epic failures, bitter disappointments and embarrassing defeats in various endeavors to forge a life of success.

As Milhouse2011 went from a child with the desire to be extraordinary to becoming an adult, defeat became a daily occurence in his life. To his peers, Milhouse2011 was better known for getting up, dusting himself off and raising the tattered flag of his hopes and dreams in noble defeat than punching the air in victory.

After 32 years of broken dreams, Milhouse2011's ambition and personal dignity was a broken, pale shadow of its former self. Not to mention a reputation that has been dragged through the mud, kicked while it's down and subject to every form of ridicule and mockery.

It was at this point that Milhouse2011 came to the conclusion that God was engineering these events until he finally cracked and became either a writer or a priest.

After careful consideration, Milhouse2011 decided that writing was the lesser of two evils as the priesthood meant no longer getting laid and a paycheck less than a 15 year old would earn at McDonalds.

The concept of writing for pleasure is a concept that bewilders Milhouse2011. Unlike 99% of writers, it's when Milhouse2011 finds himself in a dark place emotionally that writing becomes as simple as drinking beer. Any other time, he sits at his computer or writing pad PRAYING for something that looks like a comprehensible sentence to materialize before he pokes his eyes out with a blunt pencil.

If Milhouse2011 was to gain anything from being an unwilling writer, it's the fact that he can vent his spleen on anything he feels like writing about and not care about the consequences of his literary actions.

In conclusion, Milhouse2011 writes because without it, he would truly have nothing constructive in his life.

But when Millhouse is forced into that dark emotional corner and makes himself pick up a pen, what comes out? Does Millhouse write about nice things? Can Millhouse inspire and give meaning ?

I try to keep out of dark emotional corners even if they seem productive. Look at poor Amy Winehouse. But that's just my own philosophy.

Wow, what an introduction. Don't think I really believe your first sentence and I quote ''Milhouse2011 is not an established writer, self published writer or even an aspiring writer. Milhouse2011 is a rare specimen known as the unwilling writer. Milhouse2011 believes that writing is neither a talent nor the result of hard work. Writing, by his definition, can be achieved by anyone with a writing apparatus and a basic command of the English language''

In my (humble) opinion writing is a talent, and most certainly is a result of hard work. Writing may be easy in itself as an action but constructing something of quality is hard work!

However, welcome to the forum, I think we have some interesting discussions!!

I agree that writing can be achieved by anybody with writing apparatus and a basic command of the English language. However, I also thinking that writing well requires the hard work and talent components.

And I don't think Millhouse2011 would have joined a book club forum without a love of books, so... what books do you like?

When Milhouse2011 isn't stewing in his personal hell of writing, he has an eclectic taste in literature. Milhouse2011 is an admirer of the works of Tom Clancy, C.D Payne and Tucker Max. S.E Hinton holds a special place in Milhouse2011's heart as her novel "The Outsiders" continues to have a profound influence on his works. While Milhouse2011 has a preference for anything in the literary arena of political thrillers, humor and coming-of-age stories, these genres have effectively chained Milhouse2011 to the possibility that one day someone will care enough about his stories to read them.

Milhouse2011 has a soft spot for the coming-of-age genre as it relates to his journey to adulthood and his journey to embracing writing as an outlet for his creative steam. For a novel to become a part of Milhouse2011's library, it needs to allow the reader to fully relate to the emotional journey the characters take and how their future is enriched for the experience.

In regards to other writers, Milhouse2011 is open to any and all recommendations made to him.

Yes I can. I only wrote in the third person as I was inspired by the "Abotu the author" blurbs inside every book!

Hehe. Well now I feel like I'm actually meeting you for the first time. Hello Milhouse, and welcome. :)

I agree - for a while there you sounded like a computer program I wrote long ago - which responded in the third person when asked questions :o

Well, welcome again :)
