Chick Lit Lovers: what are you reading right now?

Recommended Posts

I used to read a lot of chick lit but have read a lot less over recent years, however, I had a few on my TBR pile that I'm trying to reduce, so I've been reading a few more recently. I have I Heart Paris by Lindsey Kelk on my phone, and started reading the first few pages this morning when I had a few minutes spare, and it's whetted my apetite, so that's what I'm reading right now :)

I'm a lover of chick lit.

Atm though I'm reading the hunger games. I'm on book 3. When I've finished that I have The Pact by Jodi Picoult waiting to be read.

I have some chick lit books that I'm really excited to read this year.

They are -

This Is A Love Story - Jessica Thompson

One Perfect Summer - Paige Toon

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight - Jennifer E. Smith

When You Were Mine - Rebecca Serle

Pillow Talk - Freya North

Chances - Freya North

Do Me No Harm - Julie Corbin

Also MysteryRose if you're a fan of chick lit and you haven't read it already, I throughly recommend Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. My favourtie book of the year so far. Amazing. You will love it I promise!!!!!!! :D

I am starting soon with the first volume of the "I heart..." series by Lindsey Kelk. If I like it, I will also order the others :-)

Oh, I can definitely recommend "This is a love story"!!! That one is MY favourite book of the year so far. I'm not sure I will read another one that I love that much.

I think I've read the back side of "Me before you" but I have to look it up again, because I don't know why I haven't ordered it. Maybe it has to do where the story is set. At the moment I am mostly reading book that are set in London.

I cannot wait to read This is a love story.

If you love that kind of thing. I recommend Pictures of Lily by Paige Toon. It is so romantic I loved every page. Its a follow on from Lucy in the Sky though which I haven't read yet and didn't realise until after. It doesn't matter though. It doesn't follow on. It just introduces different characters and their lives etc.

I would also recommend anything by Nicholas Sparks. He writes beautiful love stories that can be a little far fetched at times but will make you cry. So far 7 of his books have been made into films. They are The Lucky One (Out later this year) The Last Song, Dear John, Nights in Rodanthe, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Message in a Bottle.

The notebook is one of my favourtie films of ALL TIME. Not read the book yet but I will.

I read his latest novel a few months ago. The Best of Me and really enjoyed it. First book to have ever made me cry. Not got round to reading any of his others yet but I'm saving them all up for when I want a good book I know I can rely on :D

  • 2 weeks later...

I've finished "Nine uses for an ex-boyfriend" but I liked this one a little bit less than the other novels by Sarra Manning. But even so, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars, so not bad ;-)

And now I am reading "Christmas at Tiffany's" by Karen Swan.

I am reading "I heart New York" by Lindsey Kelk. Fun!

I finished I heart Paris last week. It was good fun, but I didn't realise it was part of a series until after I'd bought it, but it was fine to read out of order (although I guess it has some spoilers for the earlier books if I was going to read them. I'm not sure I'd bother with any others though, as I think I'm actually starting to find that I've grown out of this traditional style of chicklit.

Well, I've already ordered "I heart Hollywood" and then I will see if I continue the series. I think I will though. I am especially looking forward to the last one "I heart London".

I've just realised I might sound like I'm being a bit superior about them - don't think that at all! It's just for me, I don't enjoy them as much anymore, and I like something with a bit more of a story outside of the romcom side of it. I've loved Kate Johnson's Sophie Green series which have a thriller/spy theme running alongside the romance. :)

Hope you enjoy the I heart ... series though, Rose :)

Don't worry about it! I got it :) and I've felt the same sometimes.

I've enjoyed "I heart New York" especially the second half of the book. It got more 'body' there I think. My next one "I heart Hollywood" is waiting now and I am looking forward to reading it.
