  1. Hi all I'm new on here and wanted to say hi! I'm a casual collector of old books, mostly natural history as that's my thing, I just love the look, feel and smell of old antique and vintage books! nice to meet you all! Heres a couple of pics!
  2. Hi all, I recently came into possession of a collection of Sir Walter Scott novels and poems and I'm hoping to find someone who knows more about them than I do. The Waverly Novel collection consists of 25 volumes, the Tales of a Grandfather contains four volumes, and Scotts poems contain six volumes. They all date back to the 1870's and are in excellent condition. They were published by A&C Black, who were based in Edinburgh, Scotland (where I found the collection). Pictures below: https://imgur.com/GrnqEMD https://imgur.com/qTuJqGL https://imgur.com/zFxAg6F Would anyone know how much this set might be valued at? I'm also curious by the inside cover. Each book consists of handwritten cursive, that reads "Jho-Darling, Governors House 1876". It may be just my poor eyesight, but I am unable to deceiver if it's "Jho-Darling" or "Tho-Darling".
  3. I have bought a really old book (over 100 years old), that is a bit damaged! So I want someone to tell me a way to store this book somehow in order not to completely fall apart. Does anybody know how???
  4. I have recently aqcuired a collection of antique veterinary books. The vast majority of them still have leather jackets on them. I am trying to sell them on the web. My question is, would they sell better if I removed the jackets so I can picture the actual covers, or to leave the jackets on. I assume any collectors are going to want to display the actual cover and not some plain black leather jacket, but I wanted to get your opinions.
  5. Hello I have found this book. I was wondering if anyone knew about it or if it is worth anything. The book is by J. E. Johnston and is called Narrative of Military Operations. It is copyrighted 1874. Any information or help would be appreciated. Thanks, Barrett
