  1. I'm looking for a teen horror novel that is at least ten years old. It was the first book of a series. Here are the details I remember: - it had a romance plot. The boy was immortal because renewed his youth through some sort of ritual with holding his face over a bowl of steam or fog, and he wanted to share it with the girl so they could be young together forever - I think the boy controlled a fog that would surround people and force them to kill one another. I remember a scene where the town would reenact a chainsaw or axe massacre that had made the area famous or something. The fog came while they were all playacting at murder, and then they started actually murdering each other - I remember a very specific line about "a single blue eyeball" where the boy was confronted by some popular kids (?) and the fog surrounded them in a shack and they started screaming, and all that remained was the eyeball - the sequel, which I remember giving up on, started with the boy and the girl from the first book, who have not aged because they're both now using the ritual. The boy has an interest in a new girl, and the first girl (her name might have been Kim? I'm just remembering that as I type, so I might be completely wrong) starts to get jealous and whiny, and the boy things about how he might need to kill her Please let me know if this sounds familiar, this book has haunted me since the fifth grade Thank you!
  2. Hi guys, I am going to buy at least 2 or 3 novels this week. But I do not know which one will be best. Please refer me the best books(novel) of 2016 you've read already. Thanks
  3. I have almost finished Appetite by Philip Kazan and have loved the fact that food plays a massive part in the book. Scents and smells are described in incedible detail and most meals are meticulously described as the protaganist is a chef (I belive the author was a restauranteur) who has a hyper sensitive pallete. Being a chef myself I am very interested in any other suggestions for books delve into food more than others. Cheers
  4. Hey guys, I became interested in the idea of a female 'recreational' killer (not killing for revenge or killing specific individuals) when I saw a book like this adverstied as a poster in bookshops/supermarkets in London about 3 years ago. I forgot the name of the book and havent been able to find it since. There are a fair few crime books where the serial killer is a man who kills for no other reason than the enjoyment of killing, but I have not come across a book where the killer is female. Any ideas/ suggestions?
  5. I have just finished reading The Tigers wife by Teà Obreht and I have to say that it was one of the best books that I have read in a while. How I don't normally I don't read books like this but this one caught my eye and I an so glad that it did. The story follows a young docter after her grandfather dies and as she remembers here grand father and wall of the storys that he used to fell her. Okay that really simplifying the story but it gives you an idea of what it is about. Has anyone else read it if so what did you think?
  6. Hi All, I'm looking for a book I really enjoyed reading for my British and American Literature class at uni. The class was 1 full academic year and covered all the major authors up to O. Henry. I believe the novel was by an Americal writer. The story is of a medical student's life and times. I think it's set in the 20th century. Don't remember an awful lot, except that I enjoyed reading it very much. The main character's name may include 'Mark' and/or 'Elliot'. I'd appreciate it very much if someone could remember what the book is. Many thanks in advance, toonieboy
  7. Hello everyone! I am a student from Denmark. In relation to my exam I have chosen to the subject of homoseksuality in the US, under the main subject: "The fight for the good life." I would like to read a novel on relation to this, but I can't decide which one to pick! There are a lot, and no one I know has any knowledge on novels on homoseksuality.. So I'm reaching out to you guys! The novel has to be English/ American, and preferably be set in the US. Thanks in advance! Best regards, Simon P.S. The book must include a 'fight' or 'struggle', for the freedom to choose your partner (fx)..
