  1. I did actually, far more than I expected to, it was rather scary though, despite there being very little action in it, there was so much tension in the writing. It was horrifying to realise how quickly life would turn into chaos; no fuel sources, emergency services, available food, heating etc etc. I went for a remote dog walk after and could almost imagine it!
  2. Welcome to the Round Robin challenge! I challenge you to read Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell, this has been on my TBR shelves for too long and I have heard great things about it.

  5. Thank you, I'll need it! You too, Karen! Should be fun!
  6. Hi Diane, I hope you have a fabulous 2018, with lots of good reads, both new and TBR! I see a good few Kristin Hannah on your to buy list, did you know she has a new book coming out later this month? It is called The Great Alone and is set in Alaska, so it should be a good winter read (along with Winter Garden). I have every faith that you can reach your target this year, I have upped my target by 15, there is nothing like a little optimism to begin the New Year. One of my non book resolutions is to spend less time on my phone, if I can stick to this then I'm sure I can squeeze in a few more reads. Anyway, best wishes to you and yours, I'll be keeping a close eye on your thread for more recommendations!
  7. Have a great 2018, Alex! Hope it is a good one.
  8. Here's to some great reading in 2018!
  9. I had a target of 35 and managed 39 so I’m aiming for 50 in 2018. One of my New Year resolutions is to spend less time on my phone so I’m hoping that will give me more time to read!
  10. Hi Mona, good to see you back, I hope you have a great 2018, and get a chance to read all the books you want to read.
  11. Sounds like a great 2017 for you, June. I hope 2018 is just as good, if not better!
  12. I’ve decided to start The Invisible Ones by Stef Penney which is my Round Robin challenge from Willoyd. I’ve been meaning to get around to this for AGES so I’m pleased to have an excuse to prioritise it. Also, I have a question for the grammarians out there...I am reading a non fiction book by a British man, he has twice in one page used a z rather than an s in realise which had annoyed me slightly, am I right to be annoyed?
  13. Happy New Year, Michelle! As always, also thanks for keeping this forum going, I really haven't found anything else like it where everyone is so friendly and supportive.
  14. Wishing you a fantastic 2018 for reading and everything else Willoyd, I was sorry to hear you disliked Ben Elton's Two Brothers so much, I have it on my TBR after thoroughly enjoying Time and Time Again earlier this year, I'll have to form my own opinion of course, and the fact that it is set in WWII is a big plus for me as it is an era I am often drawn to.
  15. A quiet day here too, drinking lots of herbal tea, working on some New Year resolutions then I will start a roast dinner, our traditional New Years Day dinner. YUM!
  16. Yep, I'll be back on Wednesday too. I don't mind too much though as I quite like the routine of work/school/college. The decorations came down on Saturday, once Christmas is over I get fed up with them and just want to get back to the tidy clean house that is underneath them!
  17. I really enjoyed The Night Circus, it was so different to anything else I had read at the time! I have already read 5 of my 7 suggestions - I felt more comfortable challenging with books I could personally recommend, of course that doesn't mean anyone else will like them! I will definitely read Pride and Prejudice as I received that as a Chrstmas gift but will need to purchase To Serve Them All My Days at some point.
  18. Congrats! I've won a few in the past but none for ages.
  19. Have a great 2018 Noll, it sounds like 2017 was a good year for you on many levels so hopefully 2018 will be a continuation of that.
  20. I was a bit cheeky and read and finished Station Eleven just before 2018 began, very happy it was chosen for me though as it was excellent, thank you Alexi! Now starting The Invisible Ones by Stef Penney, Willoyd's choice. Happy Round Robin everyone!
