  1. Finished The Help and I really enjoyed it: the italian translation is rather good this time. Also finished Shusterman's Unwind but I'm not too sure about that: I really loved the story, I appreciated the strong theme (which created a lot of discussions among the teens I help) but I didn't like the style. There is something about the writer that can't truly convince me ..

  2. Im halfway through Doctor Sleep and its just not as good as i thought it would be, i cant believe im actually saying that as im such a massive Stephen King fan, im definitely hoping the book picks up a bit.

My best friend is a huge King fan too. She said Doctor Sleep was a bit disappointing at first, but then she really loved it!! I hope it will be just the same for you.

My copy of The Help is finally here!! :hyper:   And so is Neal Shusterman Unwind .. so now I'm all excited and I can't wait to start them both! :e010:

  3. Hello!!! I'm reading All the pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy and enjoying really much. Then I'm in the middle of a huge book on The Beat Generation (lovely book, lovely poets and writers and photographers and so so on) what is more, I promised my best friend I would have give another chance to Stephen King, so I started The Shining, but I can't help myself and I still think about Jack Nicholson's freaky smile while I read. :blush2:

  4. Just got through the book review section in BBC History.  I now have a ton of new Kindle samples loaded.  Learned about some new authors (uk).  Elizabeth Norton, Charles Emmerson, Kate Williams.  It's a great magazine, I've really enjoyed it and am considering a subscription.

Me too. Thank so much Anna, I didn't know about the book review section. :)

  5. Hello everyone.. it's been quite a few days since I last post something.. I'm soo so sorry. You all seem to have some nice books under your noses.. well well.. I'm so happy for you. I'm currently reading The Door - Magda Szabò for my reading circle and the biography of Malala Yousafzai for my pleasure. Some other italian writers are in my desk too, some are really good, but I'm afraid they're not translated in english, and it's a shame because one of them in particular is really gifted and talented: he can build up hard characters with hard lives in a sweet soft way your heart is somehow soothed by them. He's called Mauro Corona, but I really don't think you've heard of him.

  6. Happy Reading 2014, everyone!!! :reading:

I'm reading a collection of short stories written by irish female writers, it's called Irish Girls about Town, and I'm enjoying it so far.

Kylie, I really loved Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine.. and when I saw he published Talking Pictures, I added it to my wishlist.. but sadly, it seems it won't be published in Italy :( .
