  1. Thank you all so so so much..
  2. Virginia, you're better than a therapist!!
  3. No, I'm not.. but I don't mind. Especially if I look younger then my almost 31.. Anyway, thanks Gaia
  4. Oohh Virginia!! Enjoy it.

  6. Lovely photo Emelee!!!
  7. Lovely photos Weave and Virginia!! It's so nice seeing you!
  8. I loved Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children really much. I can't wait to read the second one of the serie, but it's not published in Italy yet. I read Lauren Weisberger's The Devil wears Prada, but it's not exactly my style. I'm not too sure what to read next, now.
  9. I couldn't say it better, Chrissy. I live in a country somehow stuck to a medieval conception of family and I feel ashamed of my country sometimes. I do hope things will change, though.
  10. I think it's brilliant! I wish Italy will follow the example, but I know Vatican influence on political issues is still too strong here. I do hope things will change soon.
  11. Wonderful review, Pontalba!! And I'm glad you enjoyed the book because I do love Faulkner and this is one of my favourite!
  12. I read it a few weeks ago and I liked it.. slooooowwww reading, but I found it amazing. Maybe it's just me because I read a lot of negative comment everywhere. Anyway, huge hugs to you, P.!!
  13. Finished The Help and I really enjoyed it: the italian translation is rather good this time. Also finished Shusterman's Unwind but I'm not too sure about that: I really loved the story, I appreciated the strong theme (which created a lot of discussions among the teens I help) but I didn't like the style. There is something about the writer that can't truly convince me ..
  14. Happy Women's Day to all the wonderful ladies here!

  15. My best friend is a huge King fan too. She said Doctor Sleep was a bit disappointing at first, but then she really loved it!! I hope it will be just the same for you. My copy of The Help is finally here!! And so is Neal Shusterman Unwind .. so now I'm all excited and I can't wait to start them both!
  16. I'm still waiting for my copy from the library. Now I know you think is a very good book, I'm more impatient.
  17. I just finished McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses and I can't stop whispering to myself "wow". Wonderful book!! Pontalba, my dear, you should definitely give it a try
  18. Hello!!! I'm reading All the pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy and enjoying really much. Then I'm in the middle of a huge book on The Beat Generation (lovely book, lovely poets and writers and photographers and so so on) what is more, I promised my best friend I would have give another chance to Stephen King, so I started The Shining, but I can't help myself and I still think about Jack Nicholson's freaky smile while I read.
  19. Me too. Thank so much Anna, I didn't know about the book review section.
  20. So sad, a gifted actror and a fragile man.
  21. Wow, you're all reading so much you make me feel a little ashamed of myself .. I only read 5 books so far. I'm waiting for The Help, I wish it will be in my library tomorrow.
  22. Julie's new avatar is wonderful: so sparkling!! Lovely.
  23. I needed something to cheer me up, so I took Autobiography of a Fat Bride by Laurie Notaro which is really funny. Also reading Vaclav&Lena - Haley Tanner, but I'm not too sure how I feel about it.
  24. Hello everyone.. it's been quite a few days since I last post something.. I'm soo so sorry. You all seem to have some nice books under your noses.. well well.. I'm so happy for you. I'm currently reading The Door - Magda Szabò for my reading circle and the biography of Malala Yousafzai for my pleasure. Some other italian writers are in my desk too, some are really good, but I'm afraid they're not translated in english, and it's a shame because one of them in particular is really gifted and talented: he can build up hard characters with hard lives in a sweet soft way your heart is somehow soothed by them. He's called Mauro Corona, but I really don't think you've heard of him.
  25. Happy Reading 2014, everyone!!! I'm reading a collection of short stories written by irish female writers, it's called Irish Girls about Town, and I'm enjoying it so far. Kylie, I really loved Ransom Riggs' Miss Peregrine.. and when I saw he published Talking Pictures, I added it to my wishlist.. but sadly, it seems it won't be published in Italy .
