I avoid chick-lit and those real-life abuse stories. I have also been avoiding Jane Austin after reading Pride and Prejudice which I hated, although I will probably try one of hers again at a later stage. And I'm avoiding the 50 Shades of Grey series like the plague.

People rarely return books. I know this as many of the books on my shelf have been acquired from a friend lending them to me

Just finished The Hunger Games which I read in a few days and although I enjoyed the story I felt the writing was a bit basic. I plan on reading the rest of the series soon. Before this I read Owen Jones Chavs which was the first non-fiction book I read for pleasure. I found it inspiring and I highly recommend it as it is easy to read without much knowledge of politics. Tonight I aim to start Stephen King's Carrie.

I did find it a struggle both and school and university to enjoy a book I was forced to read, most of the time I wouldn't bother to finish it. There was of course a few exceptions and after I am forced to read a book I do find myself going back to the same book at a later date and enjoying it much more. With plays, such as anything by Shakespeare, I think it can be a real struggle being forced to read the text, however going to see the play in the theater makes it much more enjoyable.
