  1. What about The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison? It deals with some harsh topics, but it's a very powerful book
  2. I really want to read that trilogy, but it will have to wait awhile. I went on a series bender and after I am done with them I want to go a different route. I'm a total sook when it comes to books. A book is more likely to make me cry than not.
  3. Shadowland and Koko both by Peter Straub are two of my favorites. I'm not sure if it counts as horror, but if it does then The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub is my top pick.
  4. Yeah, I loved their story and I loved how Roland changed by telling it.
  5. Finished Wizard and Glass. Best book in the Dark Tower series so far. I'm really enjoying these books a lot. Started A Feast for Crows by George R.R. Martin. I'm always slow to switch gears from one book to another, so I probably won't get into it too much until tomorrow.
  6. Watched Punch-Drunk Love for the forth time. It's hilarious, nutty and really sweet.
  7. Finished Voyager by Diana Gabriel. A little disappointed. Mainly I thought it too busy and everything felt rushed. Two events, in particular, needed much more attention. Now reading Wizard and Glass of the Dark Tower series. Very happy to be back in that world.
  8. Count me as another who loves To Kill a Mockinbird. I first read it around the age of twelve and have read it countless times since then. Scout may be my favorite character of all time. I've been meaning to read Rebecca forever. I really need to get to that.
  9. Would like to find one similar to The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. I'm actually not fond of Rice, but I love that particar book. I loved how the ghost plays a role in the family's history and would love to find another book like that, but I'll take any recommendation as long as the bo. ok is gothic,.creepy, and written well.
  10. I know that museum well. My dad was in the Airforce and had his pilot's license and it was one of his favorite places.
  11. Julie-I am originally from Dayton Ohio. I've been to Akron a few times. Love Cedar Point! Kidsmum-It is the third. I am enjoying them but I am looking forward to the next book where Claire won't be the only POV. She can get on my nerves sometimes. Thanks again for the welcomes.
  12. You might like the Acacia trilogy by David Anthony Durham. The first book is Acacia: The War With Mein. I read it not too long ago and enjoyed it. The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone series by Gregory Keyes fits your criteria too, I think. The dialogue is pretty witty in this one.
  13. Thanks for the welcomes, everyone. Ben-Florida is nice now, but come mid-summer I would gladly trade you places. The heat gets to be oppresive.
  14. Huge fan of his. I love The Great and Secret Show, but loved Everville even more. Wasn't there supposed to be a third book?
  15. Hi everyone. My name is April and I hail from central Florida. I am an avid reader and my tastes are all over the place. I tend to go on kicks as far as reading goes. I'll read nothing but noir for awhile then switch to historical fiction and so on. Lately I've been reading mostly fantasy. Something new to me. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
