  1. I watched this for the first time tonight. Halfway through I was shaking and tears were streaming down my face. I don't usually cry very easily. I could so relate to the mother's horror and despair when she realised

they were living next to a concentration camp and that her husband was in charge and actually approved of all that went on there.

It is a very finely acted film and one that will stay with me for a very long time. I'm now going to read the book.

I also think that this is a fabulous film. However, I think I could only watch this once, as it's too upsetting. I'm tempted to read the book though.

  2. Hi and welcome! I wanted the same thing when I came here, and trust me, your needs will be fulfilled! Just "hanging out" online, with like-minded people, is awesome :D

Hey Karen, welcome to BCF. :welcome2:

Thanks to both of you for the welcome! So far, everyone on the forum has been very nice.

  3. I have read 'Life of Pi' and 'The Lovely Bones'. Whilst enjoyed reading these books, I was a little disappointed with 'The Lovely Bones'. I didn't think it was as life changing as people were making it out to be at the time of its release. I also don't think that they could be considered some of the greatest books of the last decade.

'Atonement' and 'Never Let Me Go' are going on my 'To be Read' list!

  4. Is that a romance karen?

It's a sort of sci-fi action movie with a bit of romance thrown in. It has a 1984/Bonnie and Clyde vibe to it which I found interesting. The concept is great, but I don't think the director fulfilled its potential.

You can find a synopsis here : In Time

  5. Hi Karen get in here and kick your shoes off! You came to the best place.

Hi thanks for thr welcome! I have been trying to find a forum to talk with others about books for a long time. I'm looking forward to finding my way around the forums.

  6. I watched 'In Time' at the cinema last night. I liked the concept of the film and thought it was entertaining, however I do think that the film lacked something. I think towards the end, it became a conventional action movie and spoilt any orginality the film promised. It was a good film, but I think that it had the potential to be a great film.

  7. Hi I've just found and joined this site! I'm 30 (almost 31) originally from the U.K and now living in Spain.

I'm an avid reader and will read pretty much anything, although my favourite authors are Kate Atkinson, Ken Follett and Philippa Gregory. When I'm not reading, I'm either blogging about the books I read, or trying to write my first novel although my progress is really slow!

I'm looking forward to participating in discussions on this board. :)
