  1. How are you all doing?

I've done my 4 work-outs + had my first run in... 4 months I believe. My toe is getting better so I wanted to give it a try. I started very easy though. Of the 20 minutes I probably run 10. I ran with my son (6 yo) so I kept his pace too. I'll mesure myself tomorrow or Monday... Fingers crossed!

  2. I'm not doing too bad, and I've dropped a few pounds in the last couple of weeks. I have to fend for myself tonight, but instead of heading for a pizza, I've just made myself a lovely mushroom omelette, so in smug mode :D

    Good for you!

MysteryRose, It does feel wonderful, and the accomplishment is verra satisfying. :)

I haven't lost any more, but we'd gone off the reservation, and we'd both gained about 4 pounds, which are now, again, Gone. So, back on the diet seriously. With my back gone out, I haven't been on the treadmill, but am starting again today. That always pushes me over the hump so to speak with weight loss.

    Thanks!

    And did you start again?

I think the knee just maybe didn't like the speed I was going, because I was doing interval training. It's never complained after jogging, ever. So I'm going to keep this in mind and take it easier next time, and be really careful about how fast I run and how much I jog. I have a few friends who have bad knees and it can be a real pain and I don't want that to happen to me. I'm going to take it easy :)

    Good!

Been building it up gradually and now able to do twice as long on the Wii as when I started, so I'm keeping on track so far. :)

Great! I am feeling stronger now too and can do more challenging things now.

I think I've lost last week 1 kilo. Not much, but I see it in my clothes, so that's a good thing. I've done ok with eating in the weekend too and I am sticking to my 4 work-outs a week.

  3. I wish I could travel more, it gets so difficult with a young family!

My all-time dream is to spend a couple of months in India, it has been a "planning in progress" break for a while now, I am just waiting until my little one (my son is 6) is old enough to enjoy - and remember! - the rides on the elephants :)

Anyone been yet? Anything in particular you would deem as a must-see (except obviously the gorgeous Taj-Mahal and beautiful region of Kerala!) Any Indians who could advise?

    Thank you!

A few months away? Is that possible with your child going to school?

I don't think it is difficult to travel with a young family. Well, it depends on what you really mean by travel, but you can go away with kids, I think.

    India sounds great!

  4. I've been doing okay. I've been following the diet and I haven't been having any problems with that. I haven't been exercising as much as I would've liked to, my knee has been feeling really weird since last Saturday, and I really don't know what happened to it. Maybe it didn't like all that interval training  Today's the first day it's been feeling normal again, so I'm happy about that, I think it needed the rest.

Be careful with your knee! You don't want to end up with permanent damage. You are running right? You do the proper warm-up and all that? Maybe the muscles of your knee are not strong enough yet for the running you do?

    Enjoy the Midsummer Eve!

  5. I've done reasonably well.

Although I seem not to have lost weight last week, I think this week it will continue to drop. I've definitely lost some centimeters on the right places! Yay!

I've finished 4 work-outs (1x 30 minutes, 3x 40 minutes) this week and I am proud of myself. It wasn't always easy though...

How have you all been doing recently? Sticking to it?

  6. Oh! Almost forgot to mention...Even though I'm at the same weight loss (25 pounds), I have gone from wearing extra large pants down to the three new pairs of slacks I bought yesterday, in a MEDUIM!!:D

On the way home yesterday evening, I wanted to stop at my favorite little shop that sells flax clothing. Well, OH said it would be dangerous...and it was! But had to buy them, smaller size.....hadda do it. :D

Good for you! That must be feeling great!

  7. I've just realised I might sound like I'm being a bit superior about them - don't think that at all! It's just for me, I don't enjoy them as much anymore, and I like something with a bit more of a story outside of the romcom side of it. I've loved Kate Johnson's Sophie Green series which have a thriller/spy theme running alongside the romance. :)

Hope you enjoy the I heart ... series though, Rose :)

Don't worry about it! I got it :) and I've felt the same sometimes.

I've enjoyed "I heart New York" especially the second half of the book. It got more 'body' there I think. My next one "I heart Hollywood" is waiting now and I am looking forward to reading it.

  8. Oh, the PMS munchies... I had them last week and it was really awful. But I decided to give in, just for one day. At the end of it, so I had something to look forward during these days. I treated myself to one of my fave movies + something to eat that I really love. It felt good! The next day, I went right back to being healthy.

This week I've done 2 out of 3 weekly work-outs already. I felt too tired, but I did it anyway. Yay!

Also, I've lost 1,5 kilos last week, but it feels more. I should have measured myself (note to self: do it today then), I'm sure I've lost some centimeters on my tummy and my thighs.

I can't resist it either, though I do try to eat wholegrain stuff in the hope that I'm not doing as much harm, it's be too easy to just eat crisps and other rubbish. I find cous cous a good filler with roasted veg stirred in. Not ideal if you're on the Atkins diet though!

Wholegrain stuff is definitely a good thing! You've done better than I have ;-)

Also, I tried to cut back on fruit juices and drink water instead.

  9. I finished I heart Paris last week. It was good fun, but I didn't realise it was part of a series until after I'd bought it, but it was fine to read out of order (although I guess it has some spoilers for the earlier books if I was going to read them. I'm not sure I'd bother with any others though, as I think I'm actually starting to find that I've grown out of this traditional style of chicklit.

Well, I've already ordered "I heart Hollywood" and then I will see if I continue the series. I think I will though. I am especially looking forward to the last one "I heart London".

  10. I've often wondered the same thing, MRose. You inspired me to look it up...It appears that 1 stone = 14 pounds = 6.35 kilos.

    Thanks! :-)

I've already worked out twice this week and I am hurting in all the right places. At least I know that I am working the muscles I want to get working! lol And now I am getting ready for workout number 3. I am keeping away from all the sugery stuff, but it's not easy though...

  11. I am finally joining this topic too. I also want to get in shape, but I've been procratinating. I started running in March (I'd stopped running during the winter months) but then I broke my toe (2 months ago). Great. I still can not walk properly in my shoes, so I am mostly wearing my flip flops and running is of course out of the question. Of course I could do other things, like using my home trainer or orther excercise, but I've been putting it off... Untill just now. I put on an excercise DVD and worked out for about 30 minutes. It felt good and I am actually proud of my self. Even though I should have done this a while ago... I have a month before I go on vacation and want to loose at least 5 kilos. Besides working out, I have to watch what I eat. I am not really going on a diet, I just have to stop eating bad stuff, like chocolate puddings and cake, which I love toooooooooooooo much.

Btw, you are talking a lot about stones here, how much is a stone?

  12. Maybe I should give this author another try. I've read a few years ago a translated (in Dutch) novel of hers, but I thought is was really bad written. But maybe it was just the translation that was bad (at that time I did not read my books in English) and I should try an English version now instead.

Do you know if one of her novels is set in London? Or Cornwall? Thanks :-))

  13. Has anyone read any of these titles?

I know I'm generalising, as I've only read two of these books (by the same author), but I hated them.

I thought that they were badly written, repetitive, boring and predictable. I don't like to be negative about books, as I know how it feels for someone to say bad things about your work, but I would never pick up another book by the author, based on the LBD stories.

I'm so glad I won these, as I would have felt cheated if I'd bought them! Harsh, but true.

I've tried one too a few months ago, and I totally agree with you there. I did not liked it. It felt very 'fake' and predictable in a boring way. Sometimes I don't mind predictability, if it is written in a funny or entertaining way. But this felt not good at all and I won't buy another book from LBD anymore!

    ;-)

  14. I'm a lover of chick lit.

Atm though I'm reading the hunger games. I'm on book 3. When I've finished that I have The Pact by Jodi Picoult waiting to be read.

I have some chick lit books that I'm really excited to read this year.

    They are -

This Is A Love Story - Jessica Thompson

One Perfect Summer - Paige Toon

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight - Jennifer E. Smith

When You Were Mine - Rebecca Serle

    Pillow Talk - Freya North

    Chances - Freya North

Do Me No Harm - Julie Corbin

Also MysteryRose if you're a fan of chick lit and you haven't read it already, I throughly recommend Me Before You by JoJo Moyes. My favourtie book of the year so far. Amazing. You will love it I promise!!!!!!! :D

Here's the link to my review on it http://www.bookclubf...__fromsearch__1

Oh, I can definitely recommend "This is a love story"!!! That one is MY favourite book of the year so far. I'm not sure I will read another one that I love that much.

I think I've read the back side of "Me before you" but I have to look it up again, because I don't know why I haven't ordered it. Maybe it has to do where the story is set. At the moment I am mostly reading book that are set in London.

  15. I used to read a lot of chick lit but have read a lot less over recent years, however, I had a few on my TBR pile that I'm trying to reduce, so I've been reading a few more recently. I have I Heart Paris by Lindsey Kelk on my phone, and started reading the first few pages this morning when I had a few minutes spare, and it's whetted my apetite, so that's what I'm reading right now :)

I am starting soon with the first volume of the "I heart..." series by Lindsey Kelk. If I like it, I will also order the others :-)
