  1. Exactly! Some of his less popular books are way more interesting to read.
  2. We had Crime and Punishment in our school program. I didn't like it at all, but I am going to read Idiot and the Brothers Karamazov. These are a lot better then his "classic" one. I didn't see anything epic in Crime and Punishment.
  3. In literature it's called the culmination, I guess. I had this moment when I was reading Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I was riding on a bus and when I got to the moment when Santiago realized where his treasure really was hidden I had this dumb expression on my face, this stupid smile and I couldn't help myself I shed a tear. Some people looked at me probably thinking "what's wrong with that girl?".
  4. oh, I have about 1000 books. My mom is a teacher so she has a lot of textbooks. And we own a set of encyclopedias which come in handy. On my shelf I have about 5 books, because I usually go to the library but when I grow up I want to have my own home library.
  5. This book is fantastic. You get into it as soon as you pass the first page. But to me it seemed like a detective/love intrigue book. Of course, it carries a thought which can be understood, that is really appealing. I had this thought that Gatsby was gay for Nick when they first met.
  6. I read all of the sisters and I particularly enjoyed Wuthering Heights. It is written so well, so life-like. And the plot is really brilliant. It's really amazing to watch the metamorphosis of the characters. Jane Eyre has a predictable story and Agnes Grey is just interesting to read.
  7. Yay, Wodehouse! My friend was reading the indiscretions of Charlie and I thought I should give it a try as well. I read Pearls, Girls and Monty Bodkin and I fell in love with it! So witty and humorous! And I enriched my vocabulary too.
  8. I really like Charles Dickens. Not too many descriptions, not too many philosophical thoughts. Everything is moderately good. And I like his "rough reality" style. I have to finish Oliver Twist and then I'm going to read Christmas Carols.
  9. I've read the books...really quickly, it's that kinda book that takes you about 2,5 hours to read. Anyway, good luck and you won't be disappointed.
  10. Grrr, I made the stupidest mistake. I'm not used to my "new" age. I turned 18 this summer...boy, am I dumb...
  11. I have read all of the shopaholic series except the last one "Mini Shopaholic". Read Undomestic Goddess, Can you keep a secret, Remember me? and currently reading Twenties girl. I just love her style! And it's really easy to rean since I'm a foreigner. Though she writes as Madeline Wickham, too...Would you recommend any of those?
  12. Hi, everyone! My name is Mary and I'm a new book club member. I live in Estonia, so English is not my mother tongue. So please don't judge me if I make mistakes. I am 17 years old and I wasted my life on this dumb box, called the computer. But one day I felt an urge to read a book. It's sad really that all my friends know much more about literature then I do and I really hope you guys can help me out! So far I haven't read a lot of english authors but I am willing to improve myself. I am russian but, however, I prefer english literature. By far, favorite book is "Animal farm" by George Orwell. So that's about it....Please don't hate me.
