  1. ah thanks for the suggestions everyone, I've got a few Koontz books waiting to be read, and a John Saul book on my amazon wish list, will get a few of the other authors on the list too!
  2. Hey, a friend has recommended Dean Koontz as a good horror writer. Has anyone read any of his novels, and if so, would they recommend his books?
  3. Reading 'The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest'... The trial is over, onto the last 100 pages!!! Loving it!!!

  4. Read all the Reacher books by Child; except the one he's just released. I enjoyed them all but the latter few are starting to get a bit 'samey'... Still good books to read though
  5. I totally take back what I've said about Nesbo; just finished The Redbreast and really enjoyed it! It was tough going in places, but for overall story it was very good!
  6. Hi Tish, welcome to the forum! I'm in the middle of The Redbreast by Nesbo at the moment. I like crime/horror books too, who are your favourite authors/books? By the way, good work on getting your son to read- not many boys/young lads do it seems unforunately!
  7. Hi, I'm currently into Crime/Mystery/Thriller and some of the books I've been reading recently have quick dark/scary themes... Could anyone recommend a good Horror book and/or author which they enjoyed reading? TIA, David
  8. Haha! possibly, but I love Larsson's books though, and I've read Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist, and I've got Handling The Undead waiting to be read...
  9. Hey Waits, welcome from a fellow Newbie! Like your reasons for reading - same as me, you're right, it can be difficult to cram in around my other hobbies, but give me a book over a boring TV soap any day of the week!!!
  10. Great, sounds good to me then! Which book would you recommend I read first then?
  11. I'm in the middle of The Redbreast and I'm not liking it as much as everyone else is, what's wrong with me?!
  12. Hey, thanks for the welcome! I've not read any of Patterson's books, always seen them and thought I should give them a read; any in particular you would recommend? Thanks! It wasn't the Matthew Street Festival was it?! Despite living here I've never been to one!!
  13. I've read the first 2 Larsson books - absolutely love them, got the third one waiting to be read. Currently reading The Redbreast by Nesbo; bought the book because of the 'The next Steig Larsson' splashed on the cover, and as it was 99p in Waterstones (although you have to spend £20, which Is didn't know, and got it for 99p anyway). I'm not totally gripped by it to be honest - about 250 pages in, and I'll finish it, but not all the enamored with it to be honest!
  14. Read all of Chelsea Cain's Archie Sheridan books (except the 4th that's just come out), a few of Karen Slaughters', not that keen on Kathy Reichs. I've read The Broken Window by Deaver and enjoyed it, though thought it was a bit tough to get in to at first.
  15. Hey folks, just a quick message to same I'm new to the forum. I'm David, and I'm from Liverpool... Looking to find some good crime/thriller/mystery authors as I'm running out of books to read from my current favourite authors! (Richard Montanari, Cody McFadyen, Simon Kernick...)
