  1. Oh, sorry. No- in no way connected. Man, here I was all excited- thought someone on here actually wanted to discuss a book with me I see you are staff. Just doing some TOS policing?
  2. Well, to give you a good answer I need to give some context. I really like books in this genre lately. I had been in a drought in terms of having a good one to read. In fact, my 2 previous books I had quit reading after getting about 1/2 way thru. This one was kinda good, so I was excited, relatively speaking. I guess on a connection scale of 1-10, I would say it was about a 6 or 7. I did really connect with the degree of the protagonist's grief, and enjoyed seeing him work thru it. His side kick was a little hokey. Assuming you read it, what did you think?
  3. Hey Folks- looking for a specific poem, at least I *think* it is a poem. I hope someone can help me. It is an inspirational poem about encouraging someone. The only thing I can remember about it is that a person is cheering another on by swinging his jacket or coat in the air whilst verbally cheering. Does that ring any bells? I know it isn't much to go on. Thanks a million for any help, Spencer
  4. I think I've read all the Reacher books. Just finished Gone Tomorrow. Not bad at all. My pulse quickened at a few points. I thought it was one of his better ones.
  5. If you like it rough and hard hitting, you may like the new shoot em up thriller by Brad Taylor- One Rough Man. About half way through and it's pretty good.
  6. I *think* Givens is in Fire in the Hole, which I just placed on order at our library. Will check today on Pronto. can't wait to check em out. Thanks for the tips
  7. Leonard is also the writer for one of the few tv shows I like- Justified. It is apparnetly based on a character he created for one his books- Raylin Givens. Do any of you know in which book(s) Givens appeared?
  8. Anybody read any Elmore Leonard? If so, what did you think?
  9. Hello!

Same, nothing bad happened. Unless I've repressed it. Oh dear...

  10. "Something about returning to the place I grew up always puts me off-balance..."

Me too! Also get a little depressed, though I know not why. Nothing overtly bad happened there for me.

  11. You ever get so worked up while reading that you have noticeable stress symptoms? If so- what was the book? I did when reading A Weekend in September. It's a book about the 1900 storm in Galvestion, Tx. The writer made such vivid and stirrng descriptions that at one point I realized my heart was racing and my forehead was sweating!
  12. First off- hello. Glad I found this site. Hope to learn about authors here. Already learned some just reading posts. I like thrillers, especially those dealing with post 9/11 terrorism. I'm currently reading a new athor- David Hagberg. The book is Soldier of God. A very good read so far. I've read all the Thor and Flynn books- and many others as well, but I can never keep up with the names. Given my memory issues I really should start keeping a list I'm excited to have found another author in Hagberg that writes in this vein.
