I will update this list when I have chosen the books that I intend to read for the 2012 Genre Midi Challenge (decided to change from the Mini Challenge-28th December 2011). As an addition to the Crime Fiction Genre both books read will be my first book that I have read by the particular Author listed. As read in the rules I may change to one of the other two challenges or there may be a change of Genre during the first part of 2012. The books listed are those that I intend to read for the challenge and on completion I will note the book as having been READ with the start and finish date of reading the book. Midi Challenge – choose six genres and repeat them in rotation twice over the course of the year, reading at least one book from each genre on your chosen month. If you do want to read an historical book about London try reading 'The House by the Thames: and the people that live there' by Gillian Tindall.

Hi Kidsmum Apologies for not replying to your message that you posted back in April. I must admit I haven't been looking at the website so sorry for the delay in answering your question. I enjoyed Human Traces and it was the first book that I have read by the Author (I have now read two of his books). There is a lot involved in the book and I think it is a very difficult book to review. The subjects of psychiatry and mental health feature heavily and also detail about the human brain. There were a few parts where the material is very heavy which I read but skimmed over. The rating I would give the book is 4/5.

Hi Janet I haven't been on the website for a few months so apologies for not replying to your message back in April. I enjoyed reading The Phantom of the Opera and feel that the show can only portray so much of the detail written in the book as it would be difficult to stage. There is a sequel to The Phantom of the Opera which I would like to read. Regarding the book Sister I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would like to read the Author's second book which I think was released in June. As you can see from my list, which I have updated this morning, I read a lot of non-fiction but I am certainly glad I read Sister which I would rate as 4 out of 5. Room, I didn't enjoy quite as much, mainly because it is written as a five year old would write or speak. However I did like the book and rate it as 3/5. I will certainly be visiting the website more often now and will keep my list updated.

I don't tend to have a gap between books. I have quite a large pile TBR so I choose a book as I am coming to the end of my current book. It depends what sort of book I want to read next as I enjoy reading memoirs as well as fiction. I am beginning to read more fiction now and I'm looking at people's book lists for ideas as I am still increasing my TBR pile.

I am reading Sister by Rosamund Lupton. Half way through the book and enjoying it very much. I am thinking of pre-ordering her next book 'Afterwards'.

I only keep books that I know I will re-read. Others are put on either a book swap website or put into one of two book libraries that we run, one where we live at a local restaurant and another at a bowling club.

Although I joined BookCrossing last year in June when I caught a book (first time I had heard of the website) it has only been the past couple of weeks that I have registered 5 books for controlled release. The website seems much better now than last year when I joined. Hoping the books registered will be updated as they are all swaps.

I have two or three bookmarks that I tend to use but whenever I want one I can never seem to find one to use. After reading jjzazzy's reply earlier today it has reminded me that I started a 'Fuschia' cross stitch bookmark last year which I didn't finish. I must try and find it, perhaps one day I will finish it!

Hi Chesilbeach. Thanks for your reply. I haven't read a lot of fiction recently and what I liked about Human Traces was that the Author went into the storyline fairly quickly and the storyline flowed easily for me. There was a lot of medical description and passages but these can be skimmed through depending on the reader's interest. I enjoy reading about medical issues but suspect that it may be heavy reading to some people. I want to read Birdsong by the same Author when I can get hold of a copy which was writen before Human Traces.
