  1. Happy birthday. :)

  2. Beverly Barton - The Dying Game I don't think I can say too much about this book without giving the story away but here goes... This one was a free download from Amazon so thought I would give it a go. The story is about a serial killer who is targetting former Beauty Queens. It was an enjoyable enough read, though it didn't make me want to immediately buy all her other work, though if I found them really cheap I probably would. I would give this one about 7/10 Michael Connelly - Nine Dragons Some of the reviews of this one said that it was probably one of his weakest, and I'm sorry to say I would have to agree, but it was an easy enough read and I didn't actually find myself bored by it...could have done better I think, so a 6/10. I'm surprised at liking the Barton book better than the Connelly. Next is a classic, so I'll see how I do with that
  3. Welcome New here myself and already met some lovely people so I am sure you'll soon feel at home
  4. I cried today during my lunchtime read of "The Confession" by John Grisham. I finished it tonight and really enjoyed it. I started reading Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble and stopped after a few chapters because I was crying so much! I do plan to start on it again at some point.
  5. Thanks everyone that's given me some great ideas to work on
  6. Here's my challenge. The idea is to read a book for A-Z by authour name, but where I already own it TBR or I can download it for free. I'm missing some letters and I am hoping for suggestions. A further challenge will be for me to review them in some way as I haven't written any book reviews since school. 26 books isn't perhaps much of a challenge, but I've never been one for the classics and there are some of those here. Just need to find those last 4 authors now. If I can't find them for free then I guess I'll buy something but only once I have read all the others Jane Austen – Pride and Prejudice Beverley Barton – The Dying Game Michael Connelly - Nine Dragons Charles Dickens - A Christmas Carol Janet Evanovich - Finger lickin’ Fifteen - Christine Feehan – Magic in the Wind Diana Gabaldon – An Echo in the Bone Thomas Hardy – Tess and the d’Urbervilles Washington Irving – The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Peter James – The Perfect Murder Lauren Kate – Fallen Gaston Leroux – The Phantom of the Opera Val McDermid – Fever of the Bone Patrick Ness – The New World Richard Olin – All Day Wednesday Terry Prachett – The Colour of Magic Q - ? Tom Reynolds – Blood Sweat & Tea C J Sansom – Dark Fire Leo Tolstoy – Anna Karenina U? Jules Verne – The Mysterious Island Alison Weir – Traitors of the Tower X? Y? Emile Zola – The Dream
  7. Has anybody got any Christmas challenges planned? I'm not usually one for the Christmas spirit...maybe a Christmas challenge would make me get into it more. I think the best Christmas book I read was John Grisham "Skipping Christmas" it's the only one of his non-law books I really enjoyed.
  8. I wish I had joined here so much earlier, this challenge looks excellent. I'm going to have a good look through becase I think some of these are on my TBR list, it just keeps on getting bigger. I'm at about 100 now!
  9. I've just finished reading Dissolution and found it slow going to start with but then really started enjoying it as I got to the halfway mark. So much so I was 15 mins late back from my lunch hour on Friday Am planning on getting more but only when I have made inroads through my TBRs
  10. Just started reading The Confession by John Grisham, I love most of his law books, but don't fnd him as good as when he stared out. think the favourite of his has to be The Pelican Brief. I've been going mad downloading all sorts of stuff now I have a Kindle so my TBR "pile" is huge! I've bought a Kindle for my husband so we can both read the same book at the same time as when we had to read one in turns I was bursting to talk about it and couldn't till he had finished :)Hoping I can find lots of new authors to read from the nice people here
  11. Hi I'm Ann (called myself Perdie because there are a lot of Ann's around!) I'm 35 (36 next month) though don't feel my age! I like reading all sorts of genre though fantasy and chick lit are my favourites. Recently bought a Kindle to broaden my reading habits and to save room in my book cluttered flat. (Husband is a bigger bookwork than me!) Just learning my way round at the minute and looking forward to meeting you
