  1. I always loved Misery, but of course The Shining was an Awesome novel by "The King of Horror"
  2. The first Horror book I ever read that kept me up for nights on end were the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Spooky.
  3. Poptarts, who had time to cook Eggs and Grits anymore?
  4. Well, I am dyslexic so even though I read fairly quick, I never understand what I have read the first time, so I have to read a novel about 4 to 5 times over to understand what was ment to be understood.
  5. Reading, has always been a HUGE thing in my family. My mother was a writer and had a few works published, my father always encouraged my Brother and I, to read as much as we could. My GrandParents all grew up during the Depression, so they always read books and told stories themselves to run the time away. My brother was not the biggest fan of reading, but it stuck to me. I think the success rate of a Child/Teenager continuing to read into his adult years, depends on the type of books he is first brought up to. You must pick a good book for your Child/Teenager one that fits his or her personality, otherwise I believe it will make them bored to reading novels, and then reading really is a lost cause. Luckily my Father bought me, my first book and it happened to be "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" when I was seven years old. That book was far past my intellectual compatibility at that time, in fact it is far above my head even today, but that book alone, kept me interested in Literature, and is the MAIN reason, I minored in American Literature. God Bless all the Children and Teenagers who still read books, you will go far in your future, with a classic novel in your hand.
  6. I have that same experience at the 3 local libraries, one located on the UF CAMPUS, which you would think a book so admired would be bothersome to find, however there were 3 copies of this book, and after 15 years had been checked out only once, my stamp was the second. It is sad that so many people do not read, they're so many things that you miss watching films, based on Books. Every time I read One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, I learn something new from that book, something I never knew, which just gives me a surge of energy. I can not say enough about the Marvelous work Ken Kesey came up with, I do not mean to degrade all the brilliant writers who came before him or after him by making such a fuss over this Book, but I clearly think it does deserve some praise.
  7. I personally, love movies based on Popular Novels, they always seem to become huge hits. One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest was only the 2nd Film in Cinematic History to win all 5 Major academy awards (Actor,Actress,Director,Screenplay and Picture) Never since "it Happened one night"(1934) had it ever happened. Silence of the Lambs is another example of this Thomas Harris's Novel was published in '88, and in '91 the movie was out, it was the 3rd movie ever to win all 5 academy awards. A ClockWork Orange and A Girl Interrupted were both classic movies that were both based on Brilliant Novels. Does anyone know of any other Movies popular today that were based on Classic Novels? Let's hear them.
  8. As of today, I have a total of 1012 books in my BookCase. So many that I have had to buy not one but two different book cases to fit them. I have bought every cover to "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest" they're four different covers for this novel, however I found out that there is a HARD BACK BOOK COVER for One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. I have been to Barnes and Noble (Where I normally got the majority of my books) and they do not have a HardBack Version of this Book. Can something tell me if they have ever seen "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" Hard Back Book Covers, on any shelves that you could think of, If so where? Let me know so I can buy it and add it to my growing collection. Thanks
  9. One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest- Ken Kesey (1962) Chief Bromden, the half-Indian narrator of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, has been a patient in an Oregon psychiatric hospital for ten years. His paranoia is evident from the first lines of the book, and he suffers from hallucinations and delusions. The Great Gatsby- F. Scott Fitzgerald (1925) Nick Carraway, a young man from Minnesota, moves to New York in the summer of 1922 to learn about the bond business. War and Peace- Leo Tolstoy (1899) War and peace opens in the Russian city of St. Petersburg in 1805, as Napoleons conquest of western Europe is just beginning to stir fears in Russia. Many of the novels characters are introduced at a society hostesss party, among them Pierre Bezukhov, the socially awkward but likeable illegitimate son of a rich count, and Andrew Bolkonski, the intelligent and ambitious son of a retired military commander. The Catcher in the Rye- J.D. Salinger (1951) The Catcher in the Rye is set around the 1950s and is narrated by a young man named Holden Caulfield. Holden is not specific about his location while hes telling the story, but he makes it clear that he is undergoing treatment in a mental hospital or sanatorium. To Kill a Mockingbird- Harper Lee (1960) Scout Finch lives with her brother, Jem, and their widowed father, Atticus, in the sleepy Alabama town of Maycomb. Maycomb is suffering through the Great Depression, but Atticus is a prominent lawyer and the Finch family is reasonably well off in comparison to the rest of society. One summer, Jem and Scout befriend a boy named Dill, who has come to live in their neighborhood for the summer, and the trio acts out stories together. As you might be able to tell, I love books that center around Symbolism and problems that most people have even today. My Personal Favorite Novels is One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. The other four are novels, I have picked up and read since I was 7 years old, and I loved every single one of them. I also can not put down "Moby Dick" even though it is an extremely LONG novel, it is still something I can not put down. Plus check out all 5 of these classic Novels (Especially One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, No I'm not Bias!) and enjoy your time with them, you will not be sorry.
