  1. I always used to hate reading in secondary school.I always read too fast for the pace of my class, and would usually be finished before they were even half way through. I don't remember much of what we read, but it was usually things like Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights, which unfortunatly (as I know they're classics so I hope I don't get crucified for saying this!!!) I've never enjoyed! Even now when I've tried to re-read them! A Level was a different story though, I joined late and my class were reading The Great Gatsby - which I adored, 1984 and The Handmaids Tale. Aswell as plays like Death of a Salesman and Measure for Measure. We even read some Chaucer, and I loved them all!!! My English Literature teacher was a huge influence on how much I enjoyed that lesson, and the choice of books just made it even better
  2. I've always loved Stephen King - Needful things was the first 'grown up' book I read, and although I struggled with it ( I was young!) I loved it! I think his very scary ones are great but my favorites are definitely the more ....I'm not sure how to phrase it, supernatural rather than horror I guess Insomnia is one of my favorite books of all time - even though I know alot of King fans were extremely dissapointed. Lisey's story had me hooked from beginning to end, I loved the characters and Boo'ya moon! But again I know alot of people have disliked that one too! I thought desperation was brilliant but I hated the filmed (tv - I'm not sure what it was) version - I thought it took all the niceness out of the story - like the god related stuff! And I loved Cujo - though I cried for the poor dog!!! Haha anyway I guess I love them all - just thought I'd stick up for insomnia and liseys story!!! xx
  3. I've read Die for Me and I See You, and thought both were brilliant. I found the types of crimes incredibly interesting, and different to your bog standard murderers, which I loved! I did find that the characters seemed very similar, as well as the situations they found themselves in. Definitely an author I'll be looking for again :-) xxx

  5. I read this book highly recommended by my mum and was dissapointed. I didn't think it was bad but it definitely wasn't a favorite! I didn't like the coming to earth and possessing her friend part, I thought it just didn't fit with the rest of the story! My dads recently bought this dvd for his gf so I'll fill in on what I thought of it soon :-) xx
  6. same here!!! I didnt hate 1984 but definitely didn't think it lived up to the hype. The Handmaids Tale was definitely my favorite of the two!! :-)
  7. Ok, so when I was a teenager my dad would take me to the library on a fortnightly basis, and I read alot of books which I loved, but that I'll probably never remember! However there are two which stick out. 1. The first was about houses built on druid lines. A detective was working on a case where a tonne of skeletons were found inside the sealed walls of a house and it turned out that the houses were sucking people into the walls. 2. The second was about a woman who had two children, a girl and a boy - both conceived whilst using the coil as contraception. The girl died of cotdeath and the boy survived but was virtually invinceble. It turned out it was some government experiment, and the boy was kidnapped and kept in some instituation where they were building some kind of invicible army. It was about a detective trying to find this child, and uncover what was going on. If anyone can help me with either of these books I'd really appreciate it! Thanks xxx
