  1. Stephanie Meyer has also written a book called The Host, is very different from Twilight, but still has a good writing style. Maria V Snyder has a series, starting with Poison Study. Very good. There is also James Clements The Banned and the Banished series, starts with Wi'tch Fire (yess, the apostrophe is supposed to be there!) If you are after something more indepth, taking more concentration there is Robert Jordon's Wheel Of Time series. 14 books in total, starting with The Dragon Reborn. Or there is Katherine Kerr's Deverry series, starts with Daggerspell.
  2. Star!!!! Thank you soooooo much! And don't worry, after getting those two destroyed and leaving the other one behind as she 'couldnt fit it in the suitcase' she isn't taking any of my books anywhere!! FYI i've been searching for these books for the past 2 years!
  3. There is also Blood and Gold, which takes place just after Queen of the Damned. Merrick, which I've struggled to get into, Blood Canticle, and I've forgotten the rest of them... Some of Interview was ok, but I didn't totally buy Tom Cruise as Lestat, or Brad as Louis if I'm honest. They didn't really capture the grace of the books, there was no subtlety, the hints that you got in the books, and the insight into the thoughts and reasons of the vampire actions. I know that you can't reproduce the books into a film but this is just another reason that either some books shouldn't be made into films, or just that the wrong directors were used
  4. It's possibly a bit of an older read, but there is Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study by Maria V Snyder. The forst book starts by introducing the main characters but then she starts to learn more about magic and so forth. Quite a good read. If it's just teen romace/high school/supernatural things you are after, there is always the Twilight saga by Stephanie Meyer, or a new series I'm just starting called The Immortals, the first book called Evermore.
  5. I'm trying to find another copy of a book I lent my mum. She took it on holiday and apparently birds ate it. No, seriously, she says they did! Anyway, it was about a female trader, who takes the blame for her boss and fiance and goes to jail. Whilst there she discovers that they have in fact sailed her down the river and gets even by (somehow) stealing some of their clients money and sets them up to take the blame. She also helps the prisoners buy the prison, and turns it into a business. One of her cellmates gets out of jail, and starts having an affair with the fiance so she can help him be worked over. There was also another prisoner who gives birth, and risks losing the baby after it's born. I bought the book as a double from Tesco. The other book was Bad Boy by Olivia Goldsmith. Managed to find that one, but you guys are my last hope for this one!!
