  1. Belated happy birthday - I hope you had a good day. :)

  2. First off, what's your budget? And if Trek isss your only option, I'd go with 'The FX series' which has a range of flat bared road bikes (for a reasonable cost) but they still retain Treks good reputation for build quality and performance Go and have a ganders!
  3. Thanks for all of the prompt recommendations I think I'm going to go with Tigana or King Solomon's Mines, with The 'Anubis Gates' as an addition to my to-read list (and which ever I don't choose). I'll also keep referring back to this thread, so any more recommendations would be greatly appreciated Edit: I've previously read lord of the flies and enjoyed it, but thanks anyway Kidsmum
  4. So I'm looking for recommendations on adventure books. Two of my favourite all time books are 'The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy' in which, the main characters both share an initial naivety to the world around them, and to what it may hold (which I love) To sum up what I'm look for in an adventure book, I'd like it to be; well written, original, witty and the character being taken out of their comfort zones (but this isn't too important). I'm also open to anything, from classics and non-fiction to Sci-fi and fantasy. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

  6. My reason for choosing two: Whilst long distance biking I find myself taking breaks, eating lunch and what not, and during this period of time I enjoy reading a light hearted book e.g. Disc World. So during heavy reading sessions at home I enjoy fuller books, both literally and plot wise, and during long bike rides I enjoy a nice light weight book with a light hearted plot and a bit of humor.
  7. Cook book: Mums Know Best: The Hairy Bikers' Family Cookbook A truly brilliant cook book. With each page turn you'll discover a new regain of Britain and further a fields' individual and unique culinary talents.
  8. Symphony No.7 in the key of A mojor - Beethoven
  9. Perhaps if it concentrated on building drama rather than Relying on action I would have enjoyed it, for me it just seemed like the action was an attempt to keep children interested.
  10. Avatar - A great example of style over substance. A great story displayed in a very poor manner, reliance on effects rather than carefully developed plot. What a let down.
  11. A beginning is the time for taking the most delicate care that the balances are correct. Dune by Frank Herbert. This is the second time I've read Dune and I'm enjoying it all the more; I believe this to be a fascinating start to a fascinating book.
