  1. Argh!! The ONLY time I ever get a score right!!!
  2. Ok, for mine... Stephen Fry - of course! Anne Boleyn - and hope she's as good looking as Natalie Dormer (she played her in The Tudors)!! Also ask her if she really wanted to cause as much trouble as she did! Winston Churchill - and hear the secrets from the War. It fascinates me. Terry Pratchett - to hear tales of Discworld, and ban talk of evil diseases.
  3. Could it be Shipwrecked! possibly? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shipwrecked-Adventurous-Four-Enid-Blyton
  4. My prediction would be 2-1 to PNE tonight if I'm honest. We don't seem to have much joy at your place. But we'll see
  5. Oh, I agree. I loved the orginal Battlestar, but the new one is just amazing. DS9 is great as well, so underrated as a Star Trek series. I'll have to get all of them again at some point. By the way, if you get a chance check out Caprica, the BSG prequel. Its got potential, seen the first couple of episodes and it looks like it could be good.
  6. My lot - Sheffield United - are away to Preston North End this evening. Oh, what joy Kinda worried where our season is going. Losing Kilgallon was a nightmare in the transfer window. We need to steady the ship, regel the team, and then pray we can get the results between now and the end of the season to keep us in the Play Offs. Then, if the miracle did occur, play better than we did against Burnley last year in the Play Off Final...
  7. For the attention of Raven - you said you'd be interested to hear what I thought of these books and, as I've just finished The Magician's Guild, I wanted to let you know my feelings. The Magician's Guild, the first book of the trilogy, starts slowly, building a picture of the world that Sonea, the main character, lives in. Its an intriguing world, and one that Canavan paints rather well, if a little laboriously. I won't spoil any of the book for anyone else interesting in reading it, but it deals with a young girl, Sonea, who is found to be an untrained magician and comes to the attention of the Magician's Guild, who want to train her before she becomes a danger to herself and the world. The main content doesn't really start till Act 2. Its here that we find out a lot more about the protagonists, in particular the Guild, and the background to where this is all going. It is well written, despite the laborious nature of the first 100 pages or so, and comes to an ending that leads well into wanting to read the second book. I'd recommend sticking with it if magicians and intrigue, with a little sprinkle of deceit, are your type of thing. Its no Harry Potter kind of magic, and it had potential to be more something much more. The Magician's Guild - 7 out of 10.
  8. Battlestar Galactica Season 1 - the remake of course, not the old Dirk Benedict starring one. And it is fantastic, probably the best sci-fi TV of the Noughties tbh.
  9. There's a few I'm waiting for at the moment - Alice In Wonderland - Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and a Mad Hatter. Says it all, can't wait! Clash Of The Titans - 21st Century update of the stop-motion classic. Trailer looks fantastic, should be a cool movie. Iron Man 2 - the first was a kick-ass ride and I'm really looking to it. Besides - warning, guy moment here - Scarlet Johannsen in black leather?? Oh my God yes please!
  10. Nine Inch Nails - The Only Time "i'm drunk. and right now i'm so in love with you. and i don't want to think too much about what we should or shouldn't do. lay my hands on Heaven and the sun and the moon and the stars. while the devil wants to f**k me in the back of his car. " Nine Inch Nails - Something I Can Never Have "In this place it seems like such a shame. Though it all looks different now, I know it's still the same Everywhere I look you're all I see. Just a fading f**king reminder of who I used to be." Two of my favourite songs of all time, and both have immense meaning to me.
  11. Totally. There's something, erm, efficient about the movie. Driven might be a better word, possibly. And the scene with Norton and his boss in his office?? Best scene of a movie. Ever.
  12. Hmm... Sepultura Metallica Nine Inch Nails Queen Rage Against The Machine
  13. Ooh, this could be fun thinking about. Ok, here I go... The Star Wars Saga - I cannot begin to describe how important these films are to me. I had a copy of the first one, A New Hope, on VHS when I was a kid. I watched it so much that the sound went in the middle. I still continued watching it, able to remember all the soundtrack. Se7en - An amazing movie, with great performances from Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman. So visually impressive. And Kevin Spacey is stunning as well, him sat in the back of the car rocking excitedly is just unbelievably disturbing. Aliens - Ridley Scott's Alien is a great piece of sci-fi horror, but for full on action its outdone by James Cameron's Aliens. The special effects, the script, and the performances are all fantastic and come together so well. The Matrix - probably the best sci-fi film ever made. Stunning special effects, a great storyline, and (shock horror!) an actual good performance from Keanu Reeves!! Epic for that alone Fight Club - I'm a big fan of David Fincher's directional talent, even back to Alien3. This is his crowning achievement, adapted from Chuck Palahniuk's wonderful book. Brad Pitt is wonderful, but the performance of Edward Norton's is out of this world. Criminally underrated, and passed over by the Oscars disgracefully. The Dark Knight - comic book masterpiece. Following on from Batman Begins, this took the genre to a whole new level. Masterful direction from Christopher Nolan, and a performance of his career from the late Heath Ledger.
  14. Its been 11 years since I last week to a gig but its something that I hope to start doing again. Favourite live band/artist? Sepultura, with Max Cavalera on vocals before he left them. Only saw them once, but they were so intense it was amazing. Band/artist you've seen live the most times? Therapy? Saw them 5 times live. Such a cool band live. I saw them at Brixton Academy once, walked out after the gig to go and get a 4hr bus ride back. Of course, I walked out to be told there was a riot going on. Such a fun experience! Band/artist you've not yet seen live but would love to? I could list loads. Metallica would be my number one I guess. I would have loved to have seen Nine Inch Nails, but sadly they are no more. Band/artist you never had the chance to see? See above with NIN. I would have loved to see Avenged Sevenfold as well, but with the death of The Rev this past December, I can't see them touring in a long time. Worst live band/artist? I've been pretty lucky gig-wise. I suppose Extreme at Monsters Of Rock '94 would be the closest, but they were on a loser from the beginning. I mean, following Pantera, Sepultura and Slayer? A ballady type of rock is gonna get slaughtered after them.
  15. I was 11 at the time I was reading it and I have been trying to remember it ever since. It was very vivid in describing some of the 'acts' shall we say, so it was something that stuck in my mind. Sadly, the title and author didn't...
  16. Just watched Watchmen. I can honestly say I have never been so disappointed in a movie in all my life... and I'm including Batman And Robin in there too
  17. Ooh, well, my name is the first ever screen name I used on the internet. Its a football (soccer) thing, and comes from the fact that I'm a Sheffield United fan (known as The Blades) and I'm a little, erm... mad!! Hence... CrazyBlade
  18. Will do as soon as I have. I may even leave 1984 alone for now... not as if I've never read it anyway
  19. May I recommend a series of Star Wars books by Timothy Zahn known as The Thrawn Trilogy, based after the events of Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi and telling the continuing tale of the New Republic and the rise of a new Grand Admiral. Fantastic series, I've read them a few times.
