  1. Hi all - I for one have never read any of Tolkien's books. Some of my family have and I am in possession of very old copies of the books so one day -- one day soon -- I will read them, hopefully back-to-back.... Do you think they will be too overwhelming if I read them back-to-back? Julie
  2. HAHA a slippery slope! The long descent into reading lots of weird books! Julie
  3. I hadn't heard of this author! This is a bit of a crazy book, but has anyone read Glamorama by Bret Easton Ellis? Julie
  4. Pet Sematary is a very scary book..... I read that a long time ago.....
  5. Wow thanks for the recommendations! I am going to look into these authors over the coming weeks!
  6. Did the book come first? Or the film? It was on Sky Movies the other week
  7. For me it was The Exorcist... While I was in school. My English teacher actually confiscated it as he thought it was unsuitable for a 14 year old. This is debatable. A truly great book!
  8. I read 1408 was originally an exercise Stephen King used to exemplify how a story changes between drafts.... Keep me posted...
  9. Brilliant! Keep me posted. The movie of 1408 was scary.....
  10. My friend has read majority of Jodi Picoult's books and she loves them! I want to read My Sisters Keeper. But obviously meant to be a bit sad!!
  11. HAHA! I've been tempted to buy it in the past... I would like to read 1408...
  12. IT is an amazing book... very scary. I read it when I was quite young, had nightmares... You should read it! How did you find the short stories in Everything's Eventual??
  13. Hello - I am wondering if anyone can recommend any new children's books that aren't necessarily stories, but are educational and enlightening and suitable for up to 12 yr olds. I thought that since there are so many great people using the forum that it would be interesting to see what people can think of that I am unable to find!? I look forward to hearing from you!
  14. OOOooh that sounds intriguing. I will have a look online for it. Thanks!
