Aaah penny dropping now. I'm all for teaching the young 'uns about self reliance, I think we baby them far too much. What a fabulous example to set Mac.
I know its all lies, you just wanted an excuse to dress in a nuns habit and sing the Sound of Music, and up a mountain was the only place you could get away with it.
Tell the truth....the sponsorship money goes to pay your therapist......doesn't it. LOL
Lost my crappy day job today, but if I'm gainfully employed by the time you venture forth Highland style, stick me down for a tenner.

Aww I'm sorry to hear that Sarah. But you sound ok with it. It must mean that there's a better job out there for you. It's their loss.
I went to a horrible interview last year. There was an internal candidate for the job and people kept looking in to wish her good luck all the time. More than a little off putting. She was a member of the board of governors and her children had attended the school. I had no chance.
I'm good thanks flower. Off into Manchester this eve to meet my bestest girl chums, so some major body maintainance is called for. Eeeek. x

Hey-up flower. I was just going to send you my email addy. Will pm.
Then you can send your scribbles.
All's fine and dandy with me. Got the spring decorating bug.....I should know better.
I'm surprised you're not up a mountain this weekend or is it too easy when the sun's shining and you prefer trenchfoot and chilblains??

Hope you get this message alright, I'm still getting to know my way round the forum.
I haven't read either of the Peters. I'm fairly new to reading crime novels, and I need to read a lot so that I don't accidentally use some elses story in any of my work.
I'll keep my eye out next time I sneak off to the library.
I've read a couple of Mark Billingham's, and I started a Karin Slaughter and Michael Connelly, I wasn't gripped so I'll try a different novel.
It's unusual for me to like everything and author writes, but Macbride hasn't got it wrong for me so far.
He's written a Sci-Fi novel as well, I might give that a whirl at some point, but I'm in no rush.
Any recommendations from the Peters then?

I'm glad you had a good-ish day. I found that the first year after my dad died, events that used to be celebrated were to be endured. I'd just try and power through it. It felt very strange, everyone knows that you're thinking about your dad, so they're being extra nice, not wanting to see you tear up at the very mention of him, but not wanting to ignore the fact that of course you miss them more today. You would have seen them today, they should be there, or at the very least there'd be a phone call and a card.
Horrid, painful stuff Janet. You're much braver than you know.
I'd say it gets better over time, but I don't think it does really. I just sort of encompassed it, and it hurt less.
Here if you need an ear.
Chin Up.

I'm ok ta. One foot in front of t'other etc. I'm in the midst of decorating so mine is on hold too. That said one of the shrinkydinks who work next door to where I work is helping me with some research, and I think the next draft will be entirely different. I might start at the end and work backwards...maybe.
Sorry you didn't get snapped up straight away, but that's the nature of the beast. Most infuriating.

No bookshops???? I always thought I'd like small town life. Think I'll have to think again now.
How are you?
-
No need to apologize Janet. You're just acknowledging your feelings that's all. My dad died 4 years ago, so I remember it all too well. And you're bound to feel very wobbly for a while. Not only do you have your own grief, but you worry about everyone else too. Photo's are hard, music too. I don't mean for this to sound daft, but they never leave you. You'll carry him round in your soul, and you'll see him in your kids.
I think that's a lovely thing to do for the funeral. We had my dads favourite tunes too.
Chin up lass. You are doing him proud. X

Thanks for the welcome Sue. I had to rack up 10 posts before I could reply.
Hope all's well with you xx

That'll get you to your local A&E pretty quickly I'd have thought.
Don't you dare 'Man-up'. As a lass that's surrounded on a daily basis by hairy arsed builders clamouring for food, the breath of fresh air is much appreciated.

Well now I'm really curious about the cure for writers block. Hope you're fine and dandy.

All's well with me flower, I've had four different butterfly species in my tiny plot this year and everytime I see one I think about you. If I see anything weird I'll photo it and show you. The more things I grow, the more bugs I see. Fabulous. Hope you get over cold soon hun xx

Brilliant day for working in the garden. Veggie patch seeds sown, seen the first bee and bat of the season, and went to see the new lambs. Hurrah for spring. :-)

Brilliant news. My best friend has gotten the all clear from her breast cancer tests. So the sun shines again in my bit of world.
