Cripes! that has flown by! You'll have to demand napping time! XX

  2. It's on Channel 4 tonight at 11.05pm. It's also on 4OD

So glad you are starting to feel a bit better, and great that you can read again now! :)

  4. If you get the chance to see The Big C starring Laura Linney on More 4 and Channel 4 its well worth a watch. Funny and moving and quirky in equal measure.
  5. Was taken to hospital on Sunday, given the last rites, but live to fight another day. I have viral meningitis and have to take 20 different pills everyday til I'm well again. So good to be home

How awful, but how wonderful that you are beating it down. I can imagine how good it feels to be home again. Take good care!

:o damn that sounds terrible, hope you feel better soon!
  6. I really enjoyed TV Thorne, but he wasn't the way I'd pictured him. That goes for every other book to TV series I can think of. It's actors and directors vision. I always prefer to read the books first as if I watch the series I rarely get round to reading the books. So I avoid the series until I've read the novels. The only time I can think I've gone from TV to book was Val McDermid's excellent Wire in the Blood.
  7. I think that's one of the main reasons I like this forum so much. I try authors and books that I wouldn't have bothered with. Thanks again for the recommendations.
  8. I'm about half way through the first novel and I've avoided the tv series until I've read the novels. If I watch the series before I read the books it always puts me off reading. It's an absolute corker. Can't wait to read the others.
  9. I've just read Snuff. It's the first Palahniuk novel I've read. On the strength of it, I'll be reading more. He reminded me of Irvine Welsh. I think I'll leave it a while before I read another one though. It takes a while for the grim to wear off.
  10. Has anyone read Shatter the Bones yet?? Am looking at you Kell!!
  11. Inception. Worth a watch for the effects, but not really my bag.
  12. I really enjoyed the last 200 pages, but it was a hell of a trudge. I'll read the next episode but I'm in no hurry. I still can't see what all the fuss is about. I hope he got some free Apple computer stuff, he certainly gave them enough advertising!!
  13. Brought my sn back from the hospital. Be very glad to see the back of 2010.

  14. The Hurt Locker. Perhaps 'enjoy' is the wrong word, but it was very good. Not your typical war movie.
  15. Xmas was dreadful. Son admitted to hospital on xmas eve with tonsilitis. We're having xmas at new year. Hope everyone else had a great day though xx

Sorry your Christmas didn't turn out as planned but glad your sons getting better X

  16. The world would be a much duller place if we all liked the same thing. I'm trudging through Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at the moment. It's highly rated by millions of people, people whose taste and judgement I would generally trust. I've heard that it's a bit of a slow starter, but was advised to stick with it so I will. But at the moment I'd get more out of ironing.
  17. I love that Jumbone ad. Lovely white bedroom, lovely white bed.....huge muddy dog.
