  1. Definately a born reader. I used to go to the library and get the maximum amount of books out with my own tickets and use other family member's tickets to get more. As I got older I progressed to buying books and continue to do so - now I'm starting to run out of space!
  2. I'm about half way through Michael Tolliver Lives by Armisted Maupin - it's pretty good so far. I really enjoyed the Tales of the City series and it's nice to pick up the story again.
  3. If I get to page 50 and I really don't care what happens I tend to give up. I work on the principle that there are too many books out there for me to get through anyway, so why waste time on one that doesn't do it for me.
  4. I've read 15, which I didn't think was too bad for a girl! There are a few others that are on the reading pile and some that I thought are worth a look. Oh no, looks like the reading pile is going to get bigger!
  5. I tend to have one for reading before I go to sleep - usually the heavy/thick books and one that will fit in my bag as I can't go anywhere without a book. I know I'm really enjoying it if the book from my bedside table makes it into the bag the next day!
  6. I'm definately looking forward to Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde and Blue Eyed Boy by Joanne Harris.
  7. I'm not usually swayed by the hype and tend to read whatever I think I'll like. However, I have to say that I avoided 'The Other Hand' because of the publishers blurb on the back. I ended up reading it because it was selected for the Book Group I'm in and didn't really enjoy it.
  8. It would have to be 'The Gate' by Francois Bizot. It was loaned to me by a colleague and I really wasn't sure what to expect but I found it facinating - all about the only Western captive of the Khmer Rouge to be released alive.
  9. I'm the bride of Frankenstein running a B&B in Whitby!
  10. I'm still working my way through Belching Out The Devil and Conjugal Rites - about half way through both of them. Had 3 new books arrive courtesy of Amazon Marketplace: Michael Tolliver Lives - Armisted Maupin My Sister, My Love - Joyce Carol Oates Distance - Ewan Morrison It's amazing what you can justify when a book is 1p!
  11. I've managed it a few of times: Dreams of Sex and Stagediving by Martin Millar Angels & Demons by Dan Brown The Harry Potter books on the day of release Most of the Chalet School books by Elinor M Brent Dyer
  12. I would agree with the Bill Bryson, Jasper Fford & Douglas Adams nominations. I also thought 'All Points North' by Simon Armitage was funny.
  13. I can also recommend his previous book - 'As Used On The Famous Nelson Mandela', which is all about the arms trade. Shocking, facinating and funny! Given that I tend to stick more to fiction, I really do enjoy his books.
  14. I've not had time to read today (reviewing documents for work really doesn't count!) so am just off to bed to read another chapter of 'Belching Out The Devil' by Mark Thomas - all about The Coca Cola company and very interesting reading so far.
  15. My 2010 reading resolution is to get through my 'reading pile' which seems to grow week on week and never seems to go down! Not doing too well as 2 more books arrived today - Michael Tolliver Lives and My Sister My Love - ooops!
