I read this book years ago and really want to re-read it, but cannot for the life of me remember the title or author.
What I do remember is the main character was a female who had to go underground to find a cousin / younger male relative who had vanished. During book she/other encounter creatures who steal the skins of humans to wear like clothes. They put the humans in cages above fire to loosen the skin, and then peel them from head to foot (gorey/bit weird I know).
Main baddie is the fisher king / prince. I think book starts with description about him and his rise to power again.
No idea how ends - have totally forgotten!
