I recommend, as I do to anyone who asks for a series to read, George R.R. Martin's "A Song Of Ice And Fire". Fanatic medieval fantasy series.

George R.R. Martin's medieval fantasy series "A Song of Ice and Fire" is a must read. "A Game of Thrones" "A Clash of Kings" "A Storm of Swords" "A Feast for Crows" "A Dance with Dragons" You will not be disappointed!

Apologies for the double post! No suggestions? I've done a bit or searching around and found Shikibu Murasaki - The Tale of Genji topping a list of novels set in Japan; anyone read it and recommend it?

Pretty much just as the title says; I'm looking for a good story set in ancient Japan or China. Very fond of all the ancient myths of the far east :-)

(entertainment, relaxation, learning, etc.) Learning mostly, though I enjoy escaping into fantasy worlds when I read fiction 10. What barriers prevent you from reading more? Having to socially interact with people! Otherwise I would read all day 11. Do you think reading for fun is important? Yes 12. Do you fold page corners or use a bookmark? I use a bookmark; hate folding or creasing pages!! 13. Do you prefer to read to music or in silence? Prefer in silence but in reality it rarely happens! 14. Do you discuss books with your friends? No, don't really have any book-reading friends 15. Do you borrow books from the library? Did when I was younger but prefer purchasing books to build up my own library 16.
