  1. Ooooo, very nice haul!! I love Meg Cabot <3 Her novels were a sanctuary my senior year of high school.
  2. Well done! Lamb isn't popular where I live so I've only ever had it once or twice. On Hell's Kitchen they cook it a lot and it always seems like the toughest dish on their menu! I have a bottle of Apothic Red wine I bought ages ago to use in making coq au vin, but I haven't gotten up the courage. I've never cooked with wine before so its a bit intimidating for me! This weekend I do plan on making Swedish meatballs from scratch, though! If they turn out I plan to have them over mashed sour cream and chive cauliflower.
  3. I finished The Hunger Games last night and am starting Catching Fire tonight. I've seen all except the final movie but had been wanting to wait to read the books until I've seen the last movie, but I just couldn't wait any longer. Rue <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
  4. So sad about Harper Lee. To Kill a Mockingbird was one of those books that really grasped me when I was a kid. I loved Scout and the idea of a Boo Radley in my neighborhood. Her newer book is actually on my TBR pile right now. I never heard of Umberto Eco, sadly. I'll have to look up The Name of the Rose.
  5. I ended up falling asleep last night before starting A Song of Ice and Fire so its on board for today. I ordered some yarn from Amazon to begin knitting a blanket for a friend of mine and I plan to listen while I knit. Shadowhunters is brilliant. The tv series is very well done and the cast are each perfect in their rolls! The books are one of my favorite series and I was so excited when they made a movie based on the books, but the movie was a very sad, tragic representation of the story, so I'm happy the tv series has been created to elevate the series, unlike the movie. If you do read the books, skip the movie.
  6. C-c-c-coooold! Its going to get down to 4f tonight before finally going up for the rest of the week above the freezing mark! Just hope it stays that way for a little bit. I feel like my core is frozen solid!
  7. You should try it! Its so nice to be able to multi-task while reading! I finished HP and the Chamber of Secrets this morning and plan to start Game of Thrones Book 1: A Song of Fire and Ice tonight after Shadowhunters. Reading is fun. It feels like I've done more "reading" having this Kindle than I've managed to do in the last few years. Feels really good. I'm happy this device seems to have been worth the monies!
  8. Ooo, that looks really good (and the cover is GORGEOUS!)
  9. Janet! So lovely to see you! *huggles* Hope your reading year is going well. I need to peek into your blog and snoop around. I just finished HP and the Sorcerer's Stone and am moving on to HP and the Chamber of Secrets.
  10. I learned Christopher, Doyle and April are all coming back for the Gilmore Girls reboot!
  11. HEAVEN!!! <3 Cosmos is on my TBR pile, too. It looks really good! I love Carl Sagan. Happy Reading! And happy birthday!
  12. *huggles* I'm in love with this device. I splurged a little more than planned and got the Kindle 10 HD. Its HUGE. I've managed to do my dishes, clean up a bit and cuddle the cat all while "reading" my audio book of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. I also signed up for Amazon's unlimited book thing. You can borrow whatever you like for 9.99 a month. For me, it'll really be perfect because with my health not being the best its hard to get to a library and then I risk being too sick to return them on time, therefore having to pay fees. I love how I can listen to my book while doing other things on the Kindle, too. Right now I'm listening while half-playing Minecraft on it. Bahahaha, I had completely forgotten about Peeves He's not in any of the movies and I haven't read the books in probably 8 years now! Every time his character pops up I can't stop smiling. Leaving him out of the movies was a huge mistake. So far, I've downloaded my 2 free books from Audible: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I also forgot I had an Audible free trial book about 2 years ago, so I also have the first Game of Thrones book. For traditional books, I've downloaded a couple free ones as well as a reader's advance copy of one the suggested. Looks like I'll be nice and busy this weekend :D I'M SOOOO HAPPY!!!!!!!
  13. Ooo, that's awesome, Anna! I went to the piercing shop with 2 friends around 6 years ago. We were all going to get ours done together but they went first and after watching them I chickened out (holy big needle!!!) I still wish I'd gone through with it, but you'd probably have to get me black out drunk or give me a super strong sedative to get me back in that chair, lol! I used part of my tax return to get a Kindle. It came yesterday so I've been playing and getting to know it all night/day. I'm about halfway through the first Harry Potter book (I LOVE AUDIBLE! If you don't have it, you get 2 free audio books for signing up for their 30 day trial!) The infection in my feet is still slowly going away, but the last couple days I've been pretty down about the lack of progress. I just want it all to be gone so I can feel relieved and stop worrying so much about it. I know its healing, but seeing the bruises and huge scabby things worries me. I even had nightmares last night about my feet. They woke me around 3:30am and I've been up ever since. The Kindle has been distracting me from dwelling on it too much, thankfully, but I just want it all over with.
  14. Super cold here tonight. -17 f with -30 wind chills. I'm definitely ready for spring!
  15. I started re-reading (er... listening, as I'm listening on Audible) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone tonight on my new Kindle! Its so pretty and fancy and I loooove it! The Kindle is pretty awesome, too.
  16. Oh no! Sorry, I need to giggle a little because my 20 lb Siamese, Winston, has done that exact thing. I've taken to sleeping with lots of fleece blankets on the bed so if he falls he just takes a blanket with him instead of my lovely sheets! But, since its just me and him sleeping in a queen sized bed, its easy to cover the part I'm not in with a layer of blankets that don't move Glad the little fuzzball is okay <3
  17. I don't really have much to say, just wanted to pass around some hugs for all those who could use one today <3
  18. I've finished Humans of New York Stories and The Wrath and the Dawn and am going to read a little story palate cleanser before going on, Dead Until Dark #1 in the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris. I've read the whole series, but its a quickie read. I'm actually getting a really nice tax return so I'm planning to get some books with a little bit while saving the rest for emergencies. I've decided to (finally!) rebuy the whole Harry Potter box set (paperback I wanted hardcover but the paperbacks are 1/3 the price) and a couple other YA novels I've been wanting. I'm trying to decide between about 6 but only will by 2. It's a hard decision
  19. Quilling is beautiful but I don't have the patience for it. Anna, I'm the opposite of you! I knit but can't figure out crochet to save my life! This week has been really long and icky, but things are finally getting better. I didn't realize just how icky the infection in my foot had gotten, but now that I'm pumped full of antibiotics and its getting better I'm so happy to see it was the fever that had me so down. I never realize just how much a fever effects me until afterwards. Hopefully tomorrow it'll be even better and I can go to the gym and walk for a bit!
  20. I'm watching Mr. Deeds. No idea why I love this movie so much, but I do.
  21. I'm a Slytherin Is there a re-do?
  22. Bonjour! I'm terrible at French despite having taken it in school. I do remember a couple words, but those are mostly from visiting Toronto a few years back. Hope you enjoy the BCF community!
  23. Thanks Jessi! It really is comfort "food" reading Idk what it is about Mr. Darcy that just makes me fall in love. If I met him in person I'd dislike him so much he probably wouldn't get the opportunity to change my mind about him!
