  1. Today I got Beth Revis's A World Without You and the graphic novel version of Neil Gaiman's Coraline. I'll be starting A World Without You shortly. I've been waiting for this one for a looong time! I also plan to read Elie Wiesel's Night this weekend. Its the first book I ever remember hitting me so hard it changed a part of me. I feel its going to be a very sobering read with the world in its current state (and I'm still mourning his recent passing.)
  2. Hey Virginia and Athena! Ooo, yay for a pink cane! Everything is much better in pink. I've mostly been quiet because I've been a big downer about my feet (Been having procedures on them every 1-2 weeks for the last few months) but I'm finally feeling a little better now. I've been doing lots of reading and writing and am finally looking to have gastric bypass around November! The surgeon wants me to lose 40 lbs on my own before then so I'm hitting the diet hard starting Monday. How have you guys been?
  3. I've had to re-sign up 3 times because, for some reason, it keeps forgetting I signed up (despite catching Pokemon). So, for now, I'm giving it a rest. Maybe once they work out the bugs I can finally get a chance to really dive in.
  4. Hope all of you are doing well! I thought I'd pop in and say hi since its been quite a while
  5. This week is going to be a long, icky one so I'm downloading a few more books to my Kindle. I'll spend the majority of Wednesday and Thursday at the hospital having a few procedures done so I downloaded the new Cassandra Clare book Lady Midnight on Audible. I want one more audiobook to add but haven't yet decided on which (I'll probably be very drugged up so I'm expecting audiobooks to be better for this.) I'm having a hard time resisting Lady Midnight tonight. It looks so good!
  6. My Easter dinner was pretty simple. Mashed potatoes and roast beef with gravy.
  7. Looove John Green. My prized book on my shelf is a signed copy of Paper Towns. So glad you enjoyed it xx
  8. Sometimes you just need a nice fun light read
  9. Oooh, I think I'll have to create a book wishlist today so I can do that! I ended up getting a few more late last night when I was exhausted and couldn't sleep (but in all fairness, 3 were free...) The one I paid for is Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins. Its on sale today for 2.99 so not too much damage! Jealous! I follow her on Twitter, too, and she has such a fun personality on there. One of the other authors I follow was pimping her book just before the release a couple weeks ago and I've been waiting and waiting for it! I'm loving it so far! Hope you can get back into it. I had no idea you could return books on there!
  10. Hello and welcome! We're excellent at friending and book talking here What are you reading right now?
  11. So.... guys.... Its really really really dangerous to own a Kindle. I've discovered the "buy with one click" button on Amazon and suddenly, I have no time to second guess my cart because my cart is on my Kindle! That being said, I bought the ebook copy of The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh (even thought I already have the hardcover... but it was on sale for 2.99 yesterday so I couldn't resist!) and Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton. This one is said to be a sort of hybrid between The Hunger Games and Aladdin, so I couldn't resist that either! I have a few writer friends whose books I also bought but I've already read their drafts. For Never and Always by Ana J. Phoenix and Assassins - Spy Games Book 1 by Heather Hart. They're both smut writers so don't look them up unless you like the sort of books that make you blush and look around the room to see if anyone's looking over your shoulder! Curse you Kindle! Curse your easy access to my bank account - I mean books...
  12. Hayley, I've also seen people "disguise" the travel crate by putting a blanket over top of it. That way its sort of out of sight until you have the cat picked up, then you just lift the blanket and put them in. It also helps to keep the blanket on until you're at the destination. Frankie, I'm so sorry That really sucks! I know how much you adore dogs.
  13. I'll have to look that one up, Jessi! <3
  14. I somehow got sucked back into The Glassblower. I've now finished that book plus the 2nd in the series, American Lady and am now on the final book of the trilogy Paradise of Glass. Its not a bad series now that is moved on from some very rough beginnings, but I'll be happy to finish it. Curiosity really pulled me back in despite not liking certain trigger events that happened in the first book. Flowers for Algernon is definitely next, Athena I almost feel like Charlie is an old friend since I've read it so many times. Me too! If I ever behaved like that (I've only been drunk 2 times in my life, and when I get drunk I just use the bathroom a lot and get sleepy, not weird and overly self confident) I would have to move to Siberia with no internet or cell phone service. My cat is not letting me read tonight. Its 3am and I've been reading since around 9pm. He keeps trying to lay on me and I just now put the Kindle down because he decided its time to sing. Maybe if I give him all the treats he'll leave me be.
  15. I had to give up on The Glassblower after about halfway through. A girl can only listen to the author repeat how women can't do anything on their own and must marry a man to have any kind of support. Its not a bad book, it just really really got on my nerves right now. I may pick it up again someday. I ended up reading The Mockingjay for a 2nd time (since the final movie is coming out in a couple weeks) but I am not sure what to read next from my list. I know I need to read books from my list of ones I own but haven't read yet, but I'm really craving some comfort classics. The one at the top of the list right now is Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. Its always been a favorite book of mine because Charlie is so relatable. We all want success, when we get it, we tend to get a little cocky and want more, then when things go downhill we panic and make promises never to take the blessings for granted again. Its a short book so maybe I will just read that tomorrow. Tonight I'm watching some Gilmore Girls. I'm on the episode where Lane and Zack get married and Lorelai is toasted. I love the part in the next episode when Luke comes back and gives Lorelai a little doll from Amish country and she says "Look, Patty, an Amish voo-doo doll!"
  16. Tuck Everlasting is such a beautiful story! I love the world in it <3
  17. Updated my reading list! I just started one called The Glassblower by Petra Durst-Benning which is the first in a trilogy set in Germany. The reviews are excellent and it definitely looks promising! Not sure how much reading I'll get done this weekend as my dad is coming up for a visit. I think he's mostly coming to check on my health and see my icky foot for himself. It'll be nice to see him, I just hope my foot is up for some excitement!
  18. I'm still trying to decide which book to read next. Too many choices right now! I may just end up tossing a coin or something!
  19. I've had audible for a few weeks now and absolutely love it! For me its definitely worth it.
  20. Really? I always felt Peeta could understand Katniss in ways Gale couldn't and he was more concerned with putting her feelings first. Gale always seemed to kind of push her. I liked Peeta's patience and how he was always there for her in a way that wasn't overbearing. Plus, in the movies, Josh Hutcherson is so cute!
  21. Thanks guys Yeah, A Discover of Witches may be a bit down on my chain, but I have finished 3 more books since my last post. I've marathoned all 3 of the Hunger Games books and finished a few hours ago. Idk what's going on with me. I had seen the first 2 movies before reading any of the books, but I've been in a near panic attack mode since finishing this morning. The last book/series I had this hard of a time "ending" was the Harry Potter series all those years ago when book 7 finally came out. I've been trying to get my mind out of the world and, more importantly (for me), off love by watching cooking shows, but every little romantic mark makes my heart crunch and I start bawling all over again. I just can't seem to shake this feeling and I honestly don't know if its more stupid anxiety related or the books' story hitting me so hard. Also, I have never wanted a real man as much as I want Peeta.
