  1. I certainly read faster, especially when reading in bed. I find that my thumbs don’t hurt anymore trying to keep a book open when reading from the side where many pages have been turned. Does that make sense??
  2. I’ve decided that I’m bored of both of these writers. With James Patterson it’s just the same old storylines, with just the names of the killers being changed. I’ve read most of the Alex Cross books and I’m sure if that were real life he would have been dead by book two. Similarly with Karen Rose it’s always the detective seemingly falling in love “too early” after losing a spouse etc. With both writers the killers are always too close to home or once a lifelong friend and quite frankly I’m bored of them. I like the characters of the killers and the methods but I just wish the personal lives of those pursuing them would be different to what I already mentioned or maybe not delved into much at all. Maybe I’ve gotten used to the characters that continue throughout the books and need a change. Any recommendations?
  3. The other day I was reading in the bath and had just finished my book. I reached over to put the book on top of the toilet seat, and then heard a splash!! The seat was up thanks to my husband who had interrupted me whilst I was engrossed Needless to say that it was very soggy indeed! Thank goodness it was mine and not one loaned from the library!!
  4. I use a laminated picture of my little boy when was only a few hours old
  5. A few years ago I bought a bible in an antique shop for £10. I'm not particularly religious but I just liked the look of it. Inside the front cover there is a handwritten message that I can't quite make out. I recognise some of the words but I keep saying I'll go to my local museum to see if anyone there can read it. I think it was published in the 1830's.
  6. I would be Ginny Hawthorne A friend of mine would be Toddy Lilac - I like that one!
  7. I'm the same as you Coffin Nail, the gorier the murder the better!! My family always say "never upset Rachel she knows too much!" I see you're reading Lynda la Plante, she's one I'm yet to read. I enjoy the dramatisations of her books on ITV so the books themselves must be much much better!
  8. The majority of my books all have wrinkles at the bottom of the pages!
  9. I always read in the bath and only stop when the water gets cold!
  10. Hello everyone, Can anyone recommend any good historical murder mystery books set in either England or America up to around 300 years ago? I have not long read Tess Gerritsen's The Bone Garden and loved the way it went back and forth from present day to the 1800's. Any suggestions?
  11. My boyfriend (now husband), my sister and her boyfriend took me on a weekend away in New York a few years ago for my birthday. One morning we went to a diner for breakfast and as we were leaving I fell down the stairs. The whole diner was packed and everyone just turned to gawp at the mad woman making a racket. I stood up and said "It's ok you can laugh because if it had been one of you I would be laughing right now" with that everyone started laughing. I then made a quick exit with a very bruised arm from hitting it on a corner of a table and a large bump on the head from hitting it on a fire extinguisher! Later that day my boyfriend proposed to me in Central Park and we joke now and say that I only said yes because I had a bump on the head!!
  12. Hi Catwoman,

I just finished it and I must say that I don't think it's her best. It was good but not as good as Fractured or her earlier books. She too is one of my favourites though!

  13. Jungle Book Aladdin Beauty and the Beast - I still know this one word for word!
  14. My collegue on the phone sat next to me trying to calm down an irate customer... I should be working...shhh don't tell anyone:smile2:
  15. I got Labyrinth from the library about a year ago and just couldn't get into it (probably because I was organising a wedding at the time!). I think now though I may give it another go
  16. I read this book a few months ago and I always think about it. Something about it really got to me. I love it so much and I would like to read more books like this.
  17. Chicken salad with feta cheese and olives. Mmmmm
  18. Aladdin - for the umpteenth time. My two year old loves it and it's the only thing he will watch from beginning to end without moving!
