  1. I'm on the second, Men At Arms, at the moment and I'm not quite halfway through but it is brilliant! I keep meaning to write out a list of all the Pratchetts I currently have so I can work out which ones I still need. I'm sure I almost have all of them! To tie in the Death talk and the Watch talk, if you are a fan of Death there is a small cameo of his in Men At Arms which made me laugh out loud. When the Dwarf Bjorn Hammerhock (I think that's his name) is killed, and Death tries to make a joke... It's genius.
  2. I'm not 100% sure, I read Wyrd Sisters a while ago now but I loved the whole Shakespearean parodies throughout too I've only just discovered the Watch books and I'm sort of hooked as I was planning to read Guards! Guards! and then a few non-fantasy books I have on the TBR shelf, but after Vimes, Carrot and Nobby had charmed me, I had to move onto the next Watch book and I think there are about 7 now so it might be a while before the planned 'TBRs' get touched!
  3. @Lucybird Oh really? I thought Ron was great! However this is entirely off the top of my head with no real thought as there are countless characters I love. And yeah Death is amazing! @Dimitra yeah, Ron only made it in to mine because I haven't really thought very deeply about it. He is just one that popped into my head as a character I liked when I glanced at the books on my shelves.
  4. Brilliant. I watched this episode the other day. I believe it is the episode where they can't cool down, and the woman's room keeps getting smaller? I must get the DVDs as it is brilliant! I love Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey.
  5. Ah really! I just thought they stood out, whilst they look very old fashioned too (at least I think they look old-ish) Maybe it's my immature brain getting excited by all the different colours going on!
  6. @vinay87 I'm like you. I started with The Colour of Magic and only bought it on a whim in a second hand book shop because I liked the look of the covers. From then on, I was hooked and am still reading the Discworld novels all the time. I have so many of the Discworld and non-Discworld books of his, but still haven't got them all though You should try reading all the 'Death' books. Death is a brilliant character. The City Watch books are brilliant too.
  7. It's hard but off the top of my head I will go with: Randle McMurphy - One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest Captain Sam Vimes - Dicsworld Books DEATH - The Discworld Books Ron Weasley - Harry Potter Series Saphira (and Eragon) from the Inheritance Cycle but as other people have said, these change all the time as I discover new characters, and read different parts of books where characters come across differently.
  8. @Fi I am looking to start selling books to earn a bit of money (being a very poor student), but if you would love to have a bookshop, where do you currently sell from? Back on topic, I will soon post a picture of my books shelves! I love them. They are either side of an old fashioned fireplace in the front room of my flat.
  9. It would take a lot for Twilight to come close in my opinion, as although I haven't read Twilight, I will be reading it very soon. The Harry Potter series is one I got into at around 10 years old and now, 10 years on, I still have urges to read it and have recently finished a re-read of the entire series. If the Twilight Saga is anywhere near as good as that, I am in for a real treat when my friend brings the books up to me!
  10. Hello, I still have it, but it's at my parents house who I don't see that often as I now live in London. So I have let her know I am going to just buy a new one and post it to her as I can't promise a date that I am going back home. x

  11. Not read anything good. Sat at Uni diving in and out of some of the heaviest reading ever: Master Handbook of Acoustics Acoustics and Psychoacoustics Audio Systems: Design and Installation Stereophonic Techniques: An Anthology URRRGGHHH. Can't wait till my library stint is done and I can read some Terry Pratchett with a brew
  12. Hello and welcome You'll get on here fine; everyone is lovely.
  13. Recently I read The Subteraneans and Pic by Jack Kerouac as they were both in the same book and thought they were brilliant. Also displaying his versatility as a writer.
  14. I've recently finished Going Postal and found it difficult to put down. I recommend it and you will adore the character Moist Von Lipwig! He's great!
  15. Generally, I keep all of mine however if it is something I have really hated, I will get rid of it. In order to create more space, I have recently given away doubles I have and just kept the edition I liked the most. (Got rid of LOTR all in one book because I have the individual three and found that I wasn't keen on taking a huge book on the train or to Uni). I don't think I could bring myself to bin a book, unless it was unreadable for whatever reason, though. Books have become a bit of a habit for me now and I can't help myself, especially in second hand book shops and charity shops.
  16. 'There may be other cities that are older. But not many. And there may be one across the Atlantic that is larger. But not much.' London Belongs To Me - Norman Collins
  17. I've had Hogfather on my shelf for months, but am saving it for Christmas! Have no idea what happens in it either as I haven't read it before but it seems ideal for Christmas!
  18. Ah thanks everyone for letting me know. I am really enjoying LBTM and think already I can safely say that I would recommend it, especially if anyone has an interest in 30's London! It's really interesting.
  19. I read Nineteen Eighty-Four not too long ago and found it very difficult to put down. I wished I had read it sooner and think I would actually quite like to find similar types of books. I loved reading it and would definitely recommend it to anyone else!
  20. Ah thank you. I have started London Belongs to Me and so far I'm enjoying it and the whole concept of the story intrigues me. I know Wilde is a genius; I have read Dorian Gray ages ago and loved it, which reminds me it's due for a re-read when I find who I lent it to. I may add to the posts about London Belongs to Me when I find it and have finished the book. Any other reads that are set in old London, similar to LBTM?
  21. Today I finished a Terry Pratchett and started on another fantasy book called "Dragon... umm, something" and as you can guess, it is another stereotypical fantasy book and I found myself guessing everything that was about to happen and I was only about 30 pages of around 800 in. I decided I needed to broaden my bookish-horizons, so to speak, and went to Foyles where I spent about an hour looking through the Classics, as I have previously really enjoyed a few even though it isn't a type of book I read regularly, and decided on three books. I just wanted to know if anyone has read them and what their views on them were. I apologise if there are separate threads for these; I just thought getting them all in the same place would be useful for me. (That sounds very self-centered. I apologise again.) The books are: Norman Collins - London Belongs to Me Ken Kesey - One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Oscar Wilde - Complete Shorter Fiction (I know this isn't an individual novel but anyone with views on his shorter works would be grand.) Thanks
  22. The feeling of spending ages sifting through books in an old bookshop with books piled floor to ceiling is one that the internet couldn't ever capture. I have bought a few books from the net but much prefer going and getting them from the shelf.
  23. I'm an ex-crook who should be dead but has been given a second chance and am now trying to get the Ankh-Morpork post office back on its feet! I'm an amazing character!
  24. Ahh, thats really cool! All of your art is well cool :)

Yeah, I have been moving house, just moved to London, so I have been off the internet for absolutely ages! It's well nice to be back though :)

Things in general are pretty good thanks. Just loads of working and University. Along with reading, gaming and socializing of course!

    :D
