Woohoo! I thought I was the only one around here who watched it. I've had far too many late nights/early mornings watching it. :) It's midnight here and my eyes are drooping so I'll record the last 45km and head to bed, I think.

  5. Hi VanessaL,this is usually the same scenario with me and always been very happy with royal mail, this latest order is for 10+ books (one is for my 16 month old daughter,a book and soft toy box set) and also ps3 game for my son.I was surprised when it came up with via HDNL and not royal mail so I had a search round the net and from what I read they are a bit of a disaster when it comes to delivering parcels, over 2000 negative comments about them on amazon alone I believe, anyway I have been given an estimated delivery date of 25/07/11 and I ordered the products on the 17th. There was one item, a wii game for my daughter that was sent from a different supplier but through amazon and that arrived this morning via royal mail having been dispatched yesterday, this is great service, anyway I'm gonna start swan song from my TBR shelf rather than hang on for my jeffrey deaver books,am I showing confidence in HDNL?
  6. Hi Chrissy, thanks for the reply,I have not paid for this delivery its on the free super saver delivery but I'm assuming because its a larger order than usual that this courier is being used, all my other smaller orders came free via royal mail without problems
  7. Hi I picked the stand, salems lot and the green mile from the poll list, would have picked needful things and IT had they been on there, also the bachman books too, these are ones I reread on a regular basis
  8. Hi BCF,my latest order from amazon has been dispatched the first 3 licoln ryhmes books by jeffery deaver and full dark,no stars by stephen king, however just noticed its being delivered by HDNL I had not heard of this courier before so did a search, wish I hadnt bothered although its one of the best horror stories I have ever read Can anyone offer me hope that I will get my delivery in one piece and before the next passing of hales comet????
  9. Finished heart shaped box a little over an hour ago, still trying to get my emotions back in the box, smoking a bowl of condor should help.
  10. Just finished this book, what can I say other than superb from cover to cover, rarely I am moved by a book but this moved me especially the last quarter.Read all his fathers (stephen king) books and wasnt sure how this would go down but Joe Hill done brilliant especially for a debut novel, will be checking out 'Horns' very soon indeed.
  11. Great thread BTW,I mostly read in the big chair at home, being a pipe smoker I always have a pipe in my mouth while reading, seems to help my concentration no end.I also always have a large travel mug off the strongest kenco to hand. @simonjamesgrant
  12. Borrowed this from amazon...Swan Song “We’re about to cross the point of no return. God help us; we’re flying in the dark and we don’t know where the hell we’re going.” Facing down an unprecedented malevolent enemy, the government responds with a nuclear attack. America as it was is gone forever, and now every citizen—from the President of the United States to the homeless on the streets of New York City—will fight for survival. Swan Song is Robert McCammon’s prescient and “shocking” (John Saul) vision of a post- Apocalyptic nation, a grand epic of terror and, ultimately, renewal. In a wasteland born of rage and fear, populated by monstrous creatures and marauding armies, earth’s last survivors have been drawn into the final battle between good and evil, that will decide the fate of humanity: Sister, who discovers a strange and transformative glass artifact in the destroyed Manhattan streets . . . Joshua Hutchins, the pro wrestler who takes refuge from the nuclear fallout at a Nebraska gas station . . . And Swan, a young girl possessing special powers, who travels alongside Josh to a Missouri town where healing and recovery can begin with Swan’s gifts. But the ancient force behind earth’s devastation is scouring the walking wounded for recruits for its relentless army, beginning with Swan herself. . . .
  13. I'm gonna sugest Swan Song by Robert Mcgammon, have not read it myself yet but its on my TBR shelf
  14. Thanks so much for your responses,it seems I'm not too much of an oddball afterall Last night I did try to read without sounding every word in my head and was surprised that I was still understanding what was going on and was reading pages at least 3 times faster than usual. Also while doing this everything seemed much more fluid. Ona different note last night I ordered full dark no stars and the first 3 lincoln rhymes books, bone collector, coffin dancer and empty chair.... Thanks again for your input
  15. Hi BCF, The title says it all so I wont repeat it,I have read all stephen kings books,a couple of Richard Laymon books(wasn't that impressed)I do have swan song on the TBR shelf but after that I don't know what to get so I'm looking for ideas. For all the horror readers out there tell me what your reading and recommend me some good solid writers of the genre. Thanks for your time Soory, forgot to mention I'm currently reading joe hill's heart shaped box which I'm enjoying
  16. Hi All, I do it but I am wondering if my reading speed would increase if I could not subvocalize(no clue how to stop it though) I have tried by just looking at the words on the page but got no imagery or anything and felt like I wasnt reading at all.Would be very interested on your thoughts and how you people read. Simon
