I, too, very much like the Myron Bolitar books. I love the almost symbiotic relationship that Myron and Win have - Myron, the conscience to Win's cold, pragmatic logic - and how they rely upon one another to survive. I cannot wait for his ninth book in this series to come out (apparently some time this year - yay!)

I'm afraid I only got half-way through this novel, finding it formulaic and, to be honest, not gripping enough for me. Is it worth me having another go? I am, unfortunately, one of those chaps that thinks life is too short to be reading something that still hasn't reeled one in by the half-way mark...sorry:roll:

I read it when it was first released and quite enjoyed it. I certainly thought it was almost a return to form for Stephen King. I feel that sometimes he's too gratuitous for his own good and that he wallows too much, basking in his own glory. I have really loved some of his other stuff, mind, like 'It', 'The Stand' and particularly 'The Talisman' which he co-authored with Peter Straub. Excellent stuff.

Favourite fantasy book

I'm going to be very predictable and say that my favourite is The Lord Of The Rings, followed by a very close second with His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. I've never been a massive fan of fantasy (although, thinking about it, I devoured Susan Cooper's 'The Dark Is Rising' series when I was younger), but appreciate good books whatever the genre...actually, thinking some more about it, I really enjoyed Stephen Donaldson's books as well...I'm beginning to think that peope shouldn't trust anything I say until I've properly thought about it...
