  1. Blimey. I disappear from the face of the world for 4 months and people go and change their names so I don't find them when I get back! ;) x

How are things with you, Abby?

  2. Bonjour Genevieve.

It sounds wonderful, where you live. I currently live in a reasonably nice suburb of a town on the edge of The Peak District in England. This makes me feel lucky, as I often go striding out over the hills, away from everything. It's also handy for taking our Scouts into the wilds and teaching them navigation.

However, I used to live for a while in Norfolk, miles from anywhere, with no light or sound pollution. This was the very epitome of peace. The wildlife there was incredible and in abundance. I miss the constant connection with nature that living in a town mutes.

Saying that, I have created a haven for birds and insects in my garden, so I can still watch life dance and play while I wash up!

    I hope you've had a lovely weekend.

    Take good care. X

  3. Bonjour, Genevieve. It's been a while since I last caught up with you, so here I am.

What's been happening with you? Many good things, one hopes, and nothing to cause you grief or distress.

I have been tremendously busy, almost to the point where I've ground to an obstinate halt. I seem to fill my entire days with scouts, Duke of Edinburgh's Award, teaching or school. No time for yours truly. But, saying this, the weather has been astonishingly good whilst I've been outdoors, gadding about over the hills and moors and I have encountered little to pose a challenge, so who am I to complain?

Both the radio I and the TV series are wonderful. Avoid the film, though. I have the first two radio shows on my computer, and I love re-listening to it - especially when I'm going to bed. It's quite soporific.

    Enjoy your evening.

  5. Bumhole! I missed your birthday! Poo and wee!

Well, here's a belated many happy returns, friend of mine. I hope you had a magic time and that you're experiencing joy and other good things. Like food. And other stuff.

How're you doing? Probably excellent and great. I hope so.

    Pip pip.

  6. Busy as a thing that's really busy, as usual, yes. I've applied for a new job, which would pay me the same salary, but with 5 hours less a week and with the school holidays to enjoy. This would be very good. It would give me more time to myself, which I don't get a lot of, currently.

I hope you're enjoying your pool-time and getting to read plenty of great books.

  7. Mac

By the way, I have Library of the Dead on my TBR shelf(s). Any good? Will I like? How would you know? You're brand new and don't know me from Adam, do you? You could check out my threads McRecommends and Mac Reads, then you'd have a fair idea, but otherwise I could be a complete berk with no social skills, a beer belly and an inescapable urge to belch every 4 minutes.

None of the above is true. Except the stuff that is. Which isn't the social skills, the beer belly nor the belching. Although sometimes I do belch. If I've had a drink of coke or if I've got, like, indigestion or something like that.

    Sigh.

*sounds of Mac sticking his head into a bucket of water...

  8. Mac

Check my bad self one time! Eee-hee!

How's it ALL going, fella. It's been a long time since last we spoke. Are you well? Are you having fun? Are you prepared for the big push? Are you aware that I have lost my marbles? Have you seen them anywhere?

    Has anyone seen my watch?

  9. Cheers, CW. I'm off to Bedfordshire to read into the small hours now...

...now, where'd I put my teddy...

  10. Mac

Cheers, fella! Had to settle for second best with Dave. There was a massive picture of old Hal on the website, mind...

And Hal wins hands down between him and Lecter, easily.

  11. Mac

Christ, that's awful news! I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm very close to my own step-father, as he brought me up from the age of six (I was six, not him) and can't imagine what you must be feeling. I hope you're as well as can be expected at this time.

    Take care. Chat soon.

  12. Coo-eee! How're you doing, Noll? It looks like Abby's being a little mischievous, the scamp. But don't worry, I caught her and bear hugged her as she dashed away, so do with her what you will!

Long time no...erm...write? Read? Virtual communicationed?

Sigh. I just can't get my brain around the correct terminology...

  13. Mac

Crazy, fella. Crazy. Don't know whether I'm coming or going. I may well need to make a status update on my life...

How's the new house. You settling in well?

  14. Mac

Crikey! You were up late last night! I hope you're okay, Paula. I mean, look at me. It's nearly half-ten and I'm off to beddy-byes to read already...tut...

Toodle-pip, for now, my friend. Toodle-pip.

  15. Crikey. I've just read the chapter where the GRIMMEST thing happens...*shudder*

Excellent book, mind. Loving it (although what that says about my soul is another thing to discuss later...) xx

  16. Erm...well, in this band I'm the guitarist and singer, but I have been a bass player, a saxophonist and a drummer (actually toured the West Coast of the US of A as a drummer back in the early nineties).

I'm hopeful that you are well recovered from your bout of illness and that the aforementioned shower which beckons is as hot as you hope it will be and that you thoroughly enjoy yourself, my friend!

  17. Erm...you live with your husband, daughter and six what? I'm left with unbearable curiosity.

And Dead Koontz? Don't tell me that! I want to know what happens in the Frankenstein books, dammit!

  18. Evening Michelle. I've donated another tenner (it's all I had left in my bank account). I hope you raise enough to keep the forum going. It's a magic site.

I hope you're lovely and well.

Evening, fella. Just popping in to see how you feel your exams have gone. I hope you're okay with how you've done. What's the plan for next year? Any ideas? I could do with a few myself!

I think I'm going to be moving jobs in September and starting work in a secondary school, working with the challenging students. Should be fun.

So. Hope all's well, chap, and you're enjoying a well earned break.

    Cheers! Mac.

  20. Evening! You'll not be disappointed by The Piano Tuner. A wonderful read, it is. How's The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo going on?

I'm off to Bedfordshire now on the Sleepy Train. Hope this finds you well. Night mate.

  21. Mac

Evening. I notice you're a fan of Andy McNab. Did you ever watch that Spaced episode where Mike (the lovely Nick Frost) is waiting to go into his tribunal with the TA and he says to himself "I'm Andy McNab, I'm Andy McNab, I'm Andy McNab, I'm Andy McDowell"?

    Excellent stuff.

I'm off now, fella. Pip pip.

  22. Excellent news. I'm sure Tuesday will go swimmingly. Unless, of course, you're nowhere near a pool. Or if you have Hydrophobia. Then that would be bad.

I'm sure, to clarify, that it will be great.

  23. Fine and diddly-dandy, thank you. Despite all the things I do, because I love doing them, they don't seem like a chore at all.

I hope I read you right and you actually do enjoy the blog. It makes me bark out loud sometimes!

    Have a lovely evening! x

  24. Mac

Fine. Have thine custard and be done with it. The less said, the better. :D

Hope you're well, pal. Enjoy your evening.

  25. Giulia. Greetings. So, here is the weekend. I am about to leave the house to teach music to nice kids, so this is good. I've put a bolognaise together in the slow cooker for later (smells really good already!) when my actual father is coming round with wife number four. She's practically a biscuit older than me. He returned from self imposed exile in Greece a few weeks ago. This will be the first time he's been to my home since he left when I was five. I feel a little...erm...conflicted? I think he wants to build some bridges, which is fine with me, so we'll see how this goes, eh?

How are you doing, lovely lady? I think I'm coming down to London Village in a month or so, so we can go for that coffee and maybe point and laugh at other people?

Take care and have a lovely weekend. x
