By the way, I have Library of the Dead on my TBR shelf(s). Any good? Will I like? How would you know? You're brand new and don't know me from Adam, do you? You could check out my threads McRecommends and Mac Reads, then you'd have a fair idea, but otherwise I could be a complete berk with no social skills, a beer belly and an inescapable urge to belch every 4 minutes.

None of the above is true. Except the stuff that is. Which isn't the social skills, the beer belly nor the belching. Although sometimes I do belch. If I've had a drink of coke or if I've got, like, indigestion or something like that.

    Sigh.

*sounds of Mac sticking his head into a bucket of water...

Sleep well, mate. Enjoy your day tomorrow, as best you can. xx

One has to find the humour in life, otherwise it would swallow one as an ocean of misery would swallow one who has been treading water for as long as possible with a smile on their face. I can be terribly inappropriate with my black humour precisely because I've worked in Mental Health and secure hospitals all my working life (all 15 years of it - not much, I know, but it's all I've got!).

I'm a bit tiddly now, so I'm feeling fine. The door is locked, though, and I haven't left the house at all. It's one of those days, I'm afraid. Bizarre. Nothing wrong with me, you know. I just, on occasion, feel unable to meet the world. Or my friends. Or my family. xx

I completely agree with your post on the debating thread re: depression and how you conduct yourself, my friend. To me, you appear eloquent and you articulate your feelings with skill and compassion. I think good ol' SKM is possibly suffering himself at the moment, thus causing him to write ludicrous things. I'm awaiting my turn in the face of his wrath over my post.

To be sure, you have a friend (albeit virtual) in me. I hope your evening is proceeding very well. xx

  5. I'm off to cook me curry now, good lady. Before the wine sets in! Have a smashing evening. Mwah.x

Hmmm...well, you should see the other guys!

Actually, I try and avoid the thuggish male, I find them somewhat vexatious to the spirit. xx

  7. Lovely pictures of your cat, lady. I haven't got any cute pictures of my scraggly looking thing, the poor lad. He always looks like he's been dragged through a hedge backwards...

  8. Ah, but many question my male-ness, you know. I don't watch telly (no ariel, no licence), I don't like football, I can't stand "Lads" magazines and I don't like lager.

I do like cooking, reading (obviously), keeping my house clean, real ale, red wine, single malts (Western Isles) and tramping over the hills and mountains.

Not much pukka about me. A bit of a softy at heart, really. Maybe I need to 'Man Up', as they say. Hold on, I'm going to walk across to the local Knuckles Pub and shout that "England is sh*te and all football supporters are gay!" and see where that gets me...

    xx

  9. I think that's a great picture of you, Sarah. You have many really nice photo's of yourself. I always look like a plank - I'm not very photogenic! x

    How're things? x

  11. Hey, Kelly. How're tings in da hood?

(stop it stop it STOP IT, Mac...don't do Homie!)

  12. Actually, I am about to engage in a cooking whirl. I'm creating a curry from scratch and...wait...hnnnnnnnnnn....POP! Chink, glug glug glug, slurp....aaaaaahhhhhh....

A nice bottle of Rioja. What are you up to? xx

  13. Mac

Sedge, my friend. It has been too long. How are things down there in th'owd boot of England? Art thou well, sir? What news have you?

  14. Yoo-hoo! How's tricks? What's the story? What's going down in Groove Town? x

  15. Mac

Hiya Sarah. Just dropping by to say hello and see how you're doing. I read some of your posts on the debating room depression thread. Not all blokes feel the way SKM feels currently.

Well, me and my mates don't anyway! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend over there and that this finds you well and happy.x

  16. Mac

You must surely have finished your exams, Jessi. I hope they have gone very well (which I'm sure they have) and that you're having a smashing time.

Take care and have a great weekend. xx

  17. Yo. That's all, my friend.

That, and of course, a "Hope you're lovely and well!" xx

My Great Grandmother went stark, staring bonkers towards the end of her life. She insisted that I was either a) Winston Churchill (whom she knew); b) Her brother, Bill or c) her niece, Esme.

The latter disconcerted me more than somewhat.

This morning I visited my mother and gave her

  19. Mac

Ah, dammit! Missed your birthday by quite some time. Happy birthday for last month! x

EXCELLENT avatar, Janet! I love it! x

It seems as though your mum's mum is losing the plot a little, which must put a lot of strain on you. I'd imagine that you feel a lot of responsibility towards both your mother and your sister. It must be something of a weight to bear across your shoulders. I hope they're broad! xx

  22. Mac

Hey there. Just popped in to go :friends0::friends0::friends0: and say thanks for the advice. I hope all is well with you - it sounds like you're running through the mill a little at the moment.

Thinking of you during all this testing-ness. xx

  23. Mac

As always, ridiculously busy, but pottering along nicely, thank you. How are you doing? I'm going to have to review what I'm doing with my life in many ways. I need to get out of working with the most challenging people in society and find something that rewards me more, both spiritually and fiscally.

What's the plan for the weekend? xx

  24. Hiya Giulia. I'm sorry to read that you're feeling so low. If it's any consolation, I am sending you a virtual cuddle right now and am wishing that I could say something that would make you feel a little more chipper.

As it goes, you have my support, albeit over the web. xx
